' Wrote:I've used a logitech trackball for 7 years, but it's getting ready to cut out on me and I've decided to get a mouse instead. After looking online I've narrowed it down to about 3 models : razer lachesis, razer imperator, and the R.A.T. 5 (because I don't feel like spending $100 for the 7). I've never really used a mouse before, so I'm looking for advice as to how these perform, comfort, longevity, etc. Any information you can send my way would be appreciated, as I don't want to spend $80 or so on a sucky mouse that I don't like.

In all honesty, don't go for something showy and expensive right off the bat, you might not be able to get comfortable with a mouse after using a trackball for so long.

Have a look at the Microsoft line of computer mouse, Logitech even has some good ones.

They are relatively cheap, but if there is one thing MS has gotten right, it's their computer mice. (mouses?)

They tend to be a little ordinary looking, but they don't break easily and work pretty well.
I have an old MS intellipoint mouse that I keep as a backup, just in case my Razer Deathadder turns up it's toes.

If you *must* have an all singing, all dancing mouse, don't go wireless.
You can guarantee that the batteries in it will die at a *crucial* moment.

A possibly very ordinary signature coming soon.
