This is my main account. I hope my statement became clearer once you know this fact.

insurance services could be nice money, actually. if you would have a decent conditioning coverage.
Well, IC| is providing insurance services. I mean, we are actually providing it. Though since it is absolutely new thing, I have long way to go to improve it. And since no feedback is given or services ordered... I hardly can improve it.
' Wrote:Well I imagine if Cannon crafted one it'd calculate the value of your vessel via the same mechanism that freelancer does (vessel and cargo) and deduct a % of that worth upon destruction. If you're unable to meet the deduction I would hazard to guess that your vessel would remain grounded following death until you were able to meet your financial obligation.
That or risk actual destruction of your assets upon subsequent termination.
I had proposed that. Guess what happened? All the capitals whined that they won't trade for hours just so they can die.

I've had many cases where I can easily talk my way out of it. It all depends on the person you're dealing with.
In Kusari, I ran into a pirate and he demanded 10 mil and I pretended I didn't have the money. I proposed that if he wanted to get his money, he can follow me to my destination where I can sell my shipment and pay him.
I expected him to shoot me down right then and there but he wasn't that kind of pirate. He wanted profit and killing me wouldn't get any profit.
Quote:How old is your Order Admiral? If she's under 30 (and she certainly looks like it), Im going to go out on a limb and ask you to practice what you preach.
She was in her mid 20's, she didnt have super powers, she wasnt a furry or a half alien telepath - though she was far ahead of your typical naval officers, that isnt unheard of even in modern militaries. I fail to see your correlation.
Quote:Just to throw that out there. If only to skyline the broad range of narrow views in what's good to go and what's flipping nuts.
She didnt become an admiral until later on her career. You should also note that she was born and raised in the order, and was tailored from the time she was a child to be an officer in the organization.
As to the points of piracy being made by others in the thread, personally I only ever had 3 'pirate' characters:
1. An outcast religious fanatic that demanded people pay their tribute to their 'gods' (nomads) or be destroyed. Quite obviously this character was designed primarily for pvp purposes, as few people would pay credits or anything else to big blue jellyfish, and most piracy on this character was directed at non-transport ship classes.
2. A drunken liberty rogue that spoke in slurred 14th century english and only ever demanded that the traders he stopped buy him a drink (or, more commonly, hand over any booze they had onboard their ships). This character never destroyed a trader or fought anyone other than liberty navy/police, and was made entirely for the fun of it.
3. My junker, who was more of a blackmailer/con artist than a true pirate, and rarely attacked anyone other than non-junker intruders on his scrapping grounds.
There are plenty of good pirates out there (good meaning having quality RP, not good meaning lenient). You just have to sift through the endless piles of refuse that have overflown discovery's sewers to get to them.

So he just let me go. Lol.
You had 1 of the very rare "I am not an ahole" pirates. They are a diing breed.
Also i pirate a little for fun. I have had many start to run, and then suddenly realise i said 500K and not 5mil. Suddenly they are " Oh 500K? NP. Here you go nice pirate, and safe journey". It is the "5 mil. I know you have it" pew pew dead idiots that have given pirates a bad name.
Now for those who claim they do not want to RP long cause trader may be asking for help, and delaying? Well you can always unload on trader till his shields gone, and he has 10% hull left, then demand money while making sure his shields stay down. Yes it is allowed by rules as long as you demand before killing. You do not have to demand before shooting however. This was how they did it old school. That way if navy/police suddenly show up? well a few quick shots finish off 10%,and you run from law.
Now before you run off doing this however, know it pissing off trader's, and they usually yell sanction like crazy, so not always worth the hassle.(plus it is a mean thing to do:shok:)
