I strongly disagree. They are toys who certain people have in order to show that their ...... are bigger then the other people.
On the other side I am all for the unique ships that are not owned by one single person. I am all for unique ships that are even a bit overpowered then the normal ships. There are many factions who can benefit from having flag ship. If this ships are factions property not single people property they will be seen more often in the mod (think nekrosis here I am around from a long time ago and never saw it.) and will indeed contribute in positive way to the RP environment. And what if some of this unique ships get blasted? It is major problem for the unique ship owners-it is a bit OORP to fly it when it gets blasted so they fly then even less and avoid RP with Guns, or any hot zones, witch make the unique ships useless from all not-unique users point of view.

I have no argument against the unique ships, I like the idea, I dont like the currnet usage of them, and pointed out why. And the data size is a bit irrelevant since the most of the modern games are around from 10 to 20 times bigger as the FL with Disco mode. And the hard-drives are insane cheap.

What's the argument against Unique ships?
File size is irrelevent, a CMP takes up a tiny amount of data space compared to the mod. Textures are now normally taken from vanilla ones, no added data size.

What are the "unique" ships anymore anyways.

There is the Empror's Yacht,
Persephone (Which is dry docked)
Necrosis (which is not used anymore)

So it's really just the Imperial Yacht at the moment. People seem to like the Imperial Yacht, it is always a fun and a big deal for people when I bring it out. But it's not really a combat ship, so it doesn't see alot of PVP. I could never reconcile the rp of the Yacht being blown up, so I avoid it at all costs.

In general, it doesnt seem like a problem to me. But I guess I am bi[A]sed. So take my opinion for what you think it's worth, but what I do like is when a unique ship is built for a role, instead of for a person. The Imperial Yacht was made for the Emperor of Kusari not Zelot, (I actually didnt know it was being made till I saw it in the beta.) The Gallic Royal is being made for the Royal family not Exile. No offense to Zapp or Jinx, but i am not as wild on the idea of making a ship for a specific character, mainly do to what happened with the Necrosis. Dreygon left disco and the ship was never used again. At least if its made for a role, when I or Exile stop being the ruler of our respective houses, the ships will be available for the next person who fills that role, so even if I no longer fly it, someone will be.

Well said.

About that Necrosis heheh, I wanted it and was gonna hand it to GMG| to be used under such guidelines in the event I too left and risked the ship being unused heheh. I seriously agree that a ship being designed to be used, should be used. If not by the original person then by the next. That ship, though, can still find a home if the admins are willing to finally release it's bonds.

Hello there, can i have the reason why this ship: Viper Mk II (VHF), built by Nightstalker, has been removed in Discovery version 4.85...This fighter was in 4.84, but in 4.85 this ship has disapeared... I'm really disapointed because it's a very nice fighter.

This is very well put. I was thinking of making one for my self, but seeing as you put it - you throw in true words. However, Jinx and Zapp ships are made for the RP purposes they have made few years back. Though, I DON'T see enough 'continuation' RP of Zapp. Jinx atleast is putting words in his 'Log Files' - which I read most of the times.

So, before I speak to the devs and whoever - I will remind myself, "whats the purpose of it?"
