You're going to work up the ranks in an year or so real life time. By that time (considering 4.86's speed) there's kinda no chance to pass more then 1-2 years ingame wise. So for 1-2 years of your character's lifetime he'll move from private to somewhere in mid or even high command.
And here's the problem, I know for a General/Admiral/Manofextremesergeanttothemax you'd need to be older. But if I want my Admiral to be over 40 when he earns that title, he'll probably start as 39-38 as private/recruit/rookie. Unless of course I change the age unrealistically with each promotion or the storyline actually moves.
Get a new character. This problem was always there. I only advanced ever my pilots in snubs, other then that, I made new characters for capital ships, to avoid this uh oh 9 y/o sexy cat admiral with bunny ears and osiris fleet.
' Wrote:Eh. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Both pirates and traders are equally to blame for the issue as people call it regarding the pirate/trader interaction. If both sides would quit thinking that they are the only ones right, quit being greedy, remember it is a game, and that there is another player on the other end we wouldn't really have an issue. Since that won't happen, we'll continue to have these topics.

Doesn't work everywhere and some don't feel like making a new character for each RANK UP! I'm just explaining why most of the admirals are around their twenties. Hell, I hit General Major in my old [RM] char's 20s. Why? Because it sounded so normal to enlist young. But then all those rank ups... And no didn't fly capital ships with that char, not at all.
I usually just enlist new character for new ship. Saves the trouble and its not so akward to have admiral who just few months ago flew a training ship.
