It might depend on the user, but I do not have even the slightest issue finding any app in the store, especially with the advent of Win phone 8.1. The phone itself feels sturdy and shows no signs of damage after being dropped several times. This might be purely coincidental, mind you.

I can't agree with Cashew here, even if they were indeed going down the drain (which they aren't), it would hardly speak for their phone's quality. There is an unbelievable amount of fanboy-like behaviour and prejudices not based on any current fact.

Upon being asked why is Android better than Windows phone, the majority of people reply in a somewhat obtuse way, stating that that's what everyone says. (I do not intend to insult anyone here, Cashew, stay calm, will you? Big Grin )

Seriously people, Nokia has it issues, but it's not utter garbage. They've only sold off their mobile division and are now focusing on new fields. Or something like that. I've heard they're into genetic research.

Or they might indeed be utter crap. And I'm a fanboy.

They are no longer making phones. Purely research etc now. That's a large sign they are going down the drain. I'd know, my father happens to work for them Wink

Edit: Non aggressive reply intended. I also had a Lumia, I had no problems with it but I felt something was missing from it and sometimes random crashes occurred. Anyway it's personal preference as you say. I suggest going to the shop and have a play with the phones that usually dictates which one to go for.

It is better because there are more applications, a bigger Android user base and more customers using the individual products. There is good third party support by non-dev type people as well, as Android is far, far more common than Windows phone. Also MS have shown a very cynical approach in their way of doing business (think of the Xbox One launch and all the tvtvtvtvtv mentioned, now they've closed down the entertainment division that were going to develop the tv stuff for Xbox One altogether, a year later. Also Zune anyone?). MS are pretty fast at pulling the plug when sales disappoint, and the Win8 sales are indeed extremely disappointing. Leading business analysts called the Nokia-Windows deal "too little too late" already last year...

Sorry, but they are Tongue My first phone was a Nokia 3210 and I loved that phone (and the games on it), but they were way too slow to adapt to the smartphone market and never really made up for it - they made all the wrong decisions from Symbian over MeeGo to Windows Phone. Sales are horrid, they fire employees in heaps (also Microsoft just fired 14% of all their employees worldwide). It's even been rumoured that former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop was a "Trojan Horse" (he was previously a member of Microsofts senior leadership team) that drived the company into the ground so Microsoft could pick it up cheaply. The Elop guy even stated that Microsoft is going to kill off the Nokia brand, because they think MS is a stronger brandRolleyes

That being said, the current handsets are pretty nice, and if you are lucky you can still land one of the models with Android on it.

Slightly biased, but I prefer display quality and phone looks over every performance aspects. So, for me its SONY always.
I am quite happy with the Xperia Z version I have. Android feels a tad better than WP8.

I've had Windows and Android.

One and only Windows Phone i ever had was a HTC 8S, i didn't like it to be frank. There was nothing wrong with OS per say, but it did crash from time to time and the Manufacturer i didn't prefer at all. Infact it overheated while charging (Charging it from totally drained), caused the battery to expand and shatter the glass on the screen. Not too impressed. The OS though was fine despite the responsiveness and customization.

Android, i've had these things for ages. My latest which you'll probably not have heard of this manufacturer in a while is a Motorola Moto G(as a replacement for the HTC), this thing to me is magic. Fast, smooth and it's screen is brilliant for HD. It's quite good in terms of quality. Dropped it once or twice and there's not been a scratch. Cost me around £110 brand new and it's done the trick running Android 4.4.4 Kitkat effortlessly. I'd highly reccomend Android (Samsung, Motorola and LG Phones).
