Bombers definitely need some buffs, but I also feel fighters need their effectiveness against heavier ships lowered. They're more agile, can do consistent shield dps and can do more consistent hull dps. Furthermore th eure agile and have better survivability.

Pretty much what Devil said, bombers are made to shoot down Caps.Also you are exagerating, three bombers can destroy a CAU V gunboat within a few minutes, no mater what gunboat class it is, honestly i think Bottlenose is easy to Snac because of its shere size from the sides.Why 3 Bombers?Because 1 Snac Shot takes the whole shield, while the following two take almost its entire hull, trust me i participated in taking down Rouge gunboats in such maner.

Also, about Heavy Bombers, they are made to destroy only Caps, thats why they have better power cores.

The only problem with bombers when it comes to gunboats is Solaris, since Basic Turrets are way to easy to dodge, especially in a light bomber.

P.S.
~Never rely on Nova Torp tracking if the target moves too much, you should always try aiming it like a Snac from a little closer distance.

Moving on, the problem is zoom. Gunboat guns are already good enough so that you can hit with them reliably without any sort of autoaim (the ridiculous 1300m/s for basics plus instakilling guns with 600m/s). Either nerf the speed of the guns or disable zoom. Autohit weapons with autoaim is dumb.
The purpose of gunboats has already been needlessly nerfed in recent patches. Gunboats do not need to be made worse at their objectives. Simply, bombers just aren't good enough at killing heavier things.

People are saying that a 25mil ship should be very good at taking out something for 100 mil. Nah. Get another ship at 100mil to take out another ship. Simple as that.

Use bombers when you need a quick, cheap solution to your cap problem.
Use other caps for something that can take other large ships out as fast as possible.

I will like to add some more , If you are a skilled bomber pilot then you can take down VHF as well, I have seen people doing that and even once I got chance to shoot down a GC HF.

Edit: Double Nova bomber is a suicide bomber for VHF as well , If you know the right time to trigger novas

You are all right, imho. Even Jack. He was observing bad bombers lately, or even good ones, but in uncommonly massive fights. He just wants bombers to provide some fun to average pilots, or even new ones (nice new ppl that are leaving Disco after few months of trying to pew). And also don't forget about aged players, like him Big Grin

Anyway, let me share some previous balancing ideas here:

- Heavy bombers: 6 guns, 2 torp slots, CD. Medium bombers: 4 guns, 2 torp slots, CD. Light bombers: 4 guns, torp, CD. (Yber)
- Bombers and LFs: 220 thrust speed. (Pepe)
- Bombs for bombers: dummy Nova and Incapacitator mines. (Pepe)
- Mini snac for light bombers and SHFs. (idea is too old to remember who mentioned it first)

I think Bombers have been more decently balanced lately than they have in the past. Do people not remember Reavers flying bombers and insta-SNACing everyone they see?

If you wanted to increase the usefulness of Heavy Bombers in particular, maybe having a special weapon for them (more powerful SNAC or Nova torp?) or something along those lines to make them more of a dedicated BS killer would be nice, and leave the medium/light bombers as the in-between role.

Otherwise, I'd say don't touch them.

TZ should be considered wisely in case of bombers.

EDIT: I am not much familiar with this class, but what about separating bombers in two sub-class:
- Military bomber. It will be basically the same as now we have big, powerful heavy bombers. Their use is limited to group fights and those shall not be operated on their own.

- General purpose light bombers, those who are moved towards VHFs with appropriate buff towards agility, probably fighter class guns and lower bomber-wise performance in terms of firepower, lets say.

Just an idea which popped when I'd read that B are useless agains fighters. In group fights it is expected to have coverage against enemy fighters, while when on one's own, a bomber might really be able to stand a chance.
