doing this will kinda disrupt the meta of the game as people will not have to trade anymore. traders -> pirates -> police

EDIT: unless its player controlled like Lyth suggests, which could mean traders need to trade more to keep their police and military up and manned

Except I could just have my Freelancer windowed on one monitor and afk outside hattan, saying "Hello" to passing traders and doing nothing else.

Too abusable, 2/10

I advise you to do some math. 10 million per hour isn't that much. Usual trade with 3ker and pretty good route can earn you around 60 Million per hour, if not more.

Also, it's not killing trading. It's to make players use their characters more, not only log-kill-out scenarios. There are many players, which after three hours of eventless patrol/piracy would be like: "ugh, I got nothing today and I would rather spend these hours on trading".

It's to encourage players to log other than trade characters - and actually rewarding players for logging these characters, it's more a passive way of earning, as opposed to active one (trading, mining), which gives you up to 8x more money. It doesn't give much money, to be abused to a longer extent.

If you think it is, well, good game flying around and waiting 6 hours for 60 millions 30 million credits. Plus, it's not black magic for admins to find out one player is doing nothing at all, especially over the system plane, abusing it.

Admins. They can easily teleport to you in every moment. And erase your ship for doing it. AFK trading, being AFK over system plane and abusing gameplay mechanics are sanctionable - very harshly.

Not that I've got something against free money, no it could be fine to get something for nothing, but it could be easily abused.
Players go fly and RP, do missions etc. deserve it, but afkers do not

Pretty much this. Isn't money easy enough to earn?
You say admins "could check this anyway". Lol.
You think admins have nothing better to do than constantly scan the playerlist for afkers?
And go through seventy million sanction threads where people are arguing that they weren't afk or whatever?

If people are mainly encouraged to log for passively gaining money, maybe they shouldn't be logging in the first place.

When you log police and you had an uneventful hour of doing nothing, you gained nothing. Why do you think no one creates Police characters? Because they have nothing to do - unlike traders, smugglers, miners. Also, my idea is to make an alternative to trading, albeit not so profitable as said trading.

And I don't think anyone is sane enough to wait for 60 million credits for 6 hours. But, that's just me.

or you could stop expecting people to hold your hand.

you want money? suck it up sunshine, get a transport and do the do like everyone else.

every single type of character you can make in this game has a way of making money, there are people that have made billions just from bounty hunting alone, you dont want to trade? then escort traders and make sure you get your cut at the end.

you really want to start the Discovery Welfare™ RP 24/7

So, um. Tell me why I haven't been hired for like few months, despite offering my services as Freelancer to everyone in Liberty? Have I been doing something wrong, perhaps? Or people are actually quite negative to hire escorts, because they lose credits?

Oh yes, I don't like your attitude. Change your tone, calm down, perhaps take some ADHD pill and then try to make a normal comment, with capital letters, proper punctuation... You know, the basics?

It´s not that easy. Yes, admins can of course check if someone is AFKing for money, but someone has to report the character first. If you go AFK on tagged char, sooner or later someone will notice (because often someone log to intentionally meet you) and will send report. But no one cares about untagged characters and have no chance to know that this "John.Doe" is police IDed character AFKing for money and not for example just some random player doing for example missions for few hours in same system.

No report, no admin check, no sanction...

On a ragebreak. Or ragequit. Time will tell.

Agreed on this, though. But the more players abuse it, the faster it would be removed. And I do believe people still remember how things are nerfed, if those are abused - isn't it? Smile

OP has been updated a bit.

I'd vote for variant 2 though maybe at a reduced amount, something to cover the cost of ammo/bots and bats with a little left over for the player, say 100k an hour?
