Remember, though- people being transported in... shady scenarios (ie. Slave ships, immigrant smuggling vessels) are often crammed into spaces and conditions that are not technically meant for transporting people. Commercial cargo vessels are often used to smuggle immigrants across the Pacific, to use a contemporary example.

Slaves are people too. Honest!
It does annoy me seeing all these Lux Liners flying on a cruise with stacks of gold. I can just imagine the gold sucking its pina coladas noisily through a straw and eating at the Captain's table...
What we do is increase the multiplyer..So, you have to buy for more, but you sell for higher than the difference. Ergo, you wouldn't be doing the team thing(though I'm not sure why you'd do that, anyway). And it would be better rp: People pay more to be transported in liners...
If we drop the liner cargoes back down to 3k, and increase their profits so they make a bit more profit, while moving passengers, as a 5k transport, that would work both ways: make it less profitable to use them for moving nonhuman cargo, and more profitable to use them moving human cargo. Both sides of the candle.

Whoa whoa whoa- you're talking about a big change here- significantly dropping cargo space on Liners.
Perhaps we should hear more of what other people think...

Well yes, slaves are definitely an exception. I mean, i don't really think the slave liner is actually beautifully furnished inside or anything. But VIPs in container transport = magnificent fail. Potentially you could ship refugees and prisoners in less than luxurious conditions, but I think human rights would be moaning if you used less than prison liners, really.
As for significantly dropping cargo space on liners:
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but what is being suggested would actually increase the profits liners make when carrying people, whilst dropping it for everything else. My Luxury Liner's never carried anything except people so this gets thumbs up from me. People hauling engine components in liners are doing it wrong. I mean, the actual 'number' is just completely abstract. What's that? A vacationer is the size of two diamonds? I want these diamonds!
One of the reasons that liners have been so common since 85 is that the luxury liner got a cargo boost...if it had the old cargo, I don't think it would be nearly attractive as the Ctrans or Pirate Trains.
I like this idea a lot, and the chance for abuse is slim enough to make it worth it, imo.
One thing about liners hauling cargo...
I haul 1200 units of cargo in my slave liner, whenever I'm on a base that sells it low or happen to destroy a NPC with a valuable load. My justification is that it has six pods on the side, which I RP as being pods with cargo storage capability. 200 units each.
They can house slaves, very uncomfortably, and have straps to tie down anything that can't be shackled.
Seems in RP to me, though I'm not sure if the other liners have a feature that would justify this.
I'm sure every single one has about one to two-hundred units of space for food, luggage, etc...
Edit:
I also never load up to my full capacity with slaves. I always leave about 100 units of space.
Since the pods are dual-purpose in my RP, I imagine that I can't cram as many slaves in there as with the rest of the ship.
