I have a crashing problem due to my laptop graphics card with a vista OS. The way I got round it was to use a software graphics program, SwiftShader.
If you aren't experiencing shearing of text that's probably not the problem though.

EDIT: I had the shearing issue in 4.84, but didn't crash until 4.85. I'd log on to a character and crash... log on and crash...

Ok,i s that downloadable free, or do i have to purchase it?

In my thought, i think i found the problem. I have sent my FL files to Windows XP computer and when i try to load my characters there, it crashes too. It's the mod, i think is corrupted after i have install the update.
Well...what can i do? I lost the account with my first BS:(.

However, im gonna try what you say pal, it my be the graphics too :unsure:

To back up your accounts you can use the Freelancer Account Manager.

A version of SwiftShader is available for public download free of charge but it carries a watermark, which covers the scanner in Freelancer. Either buy it or google for ways to lift the watermark, depending on the severity of your situation. It only takes a couple of seconds with a hex editor.

Day 3: Successful Day:D

Thanks for the help of the Disco Family, i have found the problem by removing every single Freelancer File. (Freelancer Game, FMM, FAM, Freelnacer Companion, Discovery RP Freelancer "Shortcut" IcoN, and etc.)
The computer had no FL files at all, as if it never had an Freelancer Game.

I haved had to re-install the main programs to for the mod to work, such as: FMM, DSUpdate, Disco 4.85 beta 4 MOD, and a new icon of Discovery RP FL.

Once i have install everyrthing, i had used "Run as Admin" on Disco Shortcut icon, and instantly it ask me, "Do you want to download Discovery 4.85 beta 4 update 2" and i had clicked "yes" (of course :laugh:).
It was downloading for 2 minutes top's. When it finished it automatically launch to the game :D. I had enter the server clicked on "Zoner-Colony:~Auxium" . And i stayed for 5 mins, no crashing :yahoo:. (had to log out cause i gotta go, but who cares, WE FIXED IT!)

We fixed it everyone, thank you for your help and genorosity (forgot how to spell it :P).

Anyhow, i gotta go, you guys wont see the Colony for couple of hours :P. Be back soon :)
