Totally missed this the last two calls. Nevertheless this would be one the biggest things to change how stuff goes down in a server..

Flying under radar.

I don't.

I prefer system as a default. Have you ever spent any time in places like Newcastle, Kepler, or Manchester, where almost no one talks?

If you have, imagine every system being that way. Because that's pretty much what I think would happen.

I dont agree with changing Local to default

I agree with making a command that sets local chat to "default" for some time manually, so you dont need to type /l everytime. It was discussed before somewhere else, /localon /localoff or something like that maybe

Very true... Everything would become so... Boring.

Undoubtedly there are some people who don't know how to use /l now...
Half the server, pretty much. So that means half the server won't be heard anymore.

It's interesting to hear RP in system chat when all you're doing is passing through...

I prefer people to say nothing if they have nothing worth saying. And those silent people will still keep silent no matter what the default chat is.

True, we lose some of those "This is ship xyz requesting landing" kind of atmosphere creating messages, but I think it's a fair trade considering loosing most of the needless system wide chatter.

Flying under radar.

I support this idea.

almost every interesting and valuable talks are in local chat. pirate vs. trader, player vs. player, even simple 'hello', all this are in local chat.
In the system, you can hear one-sided dialogs - one player uses /l and another not, so, it has no sense, you can hear // ooc chat. etc. I say 90% of RP is in the local chat.
This idea doesn't turn off system chat, you could use /s and say what you want to system. But it would be intentional, when you want to say something interesting to all in the system.

Not a new concept. My theory is, after the fourth or so times a thread has been made about it, then it's probably been decided behind closed doors that it won't be implemented, and no one told you why, or it's simply not possible.

I always leave my coms set to Group chat anyway, so I have to type either /l or /s to say anything elsewhere. It works well enough that I don't need this to be implemented. I support the idea none the less, though.

sleipneir, balthazzar nice signatures guys.

I personally perfer a local chat by default. if u r typing fast while doing RP the amount of typos that can happen more in pvp roleplay you can imagine how much time it leaves at your disposal to comment/ answer back or pvp with the concerned player or give the dues to the pirates.

If the majority says in the favor and if its acceptable to the admins by default /l command chat shall be a great asset.

I think we should try it, at least.
