How about some grounds as to why it's not a glitch instead of 'i do this too hahahaha'?
just because it suits your needs it doesn't make it legal, fair, or even moral. Yes, it suits your needs to run away, but so does going through a jump hole back and forth till you get a chance to run without being caught. and we have a ruling on that don't we?
let's use example for once and use real reasons as to why you think this should be allowed and legal.
Simple fact, traveling through a trade lane, person 'A' shoots a structure, Result: any ship on either side of the structure, coming or going is dropped out of the trade lane sequence. The question i put forth is: If person 'A' uses a mine or a quick shot on the structure, does it still not stop travelers?
Before this becomes a flame or gets personal. I am arguing this due to it's principle. It's a cheap move, and yes it's annoying. But so are hundreds of other incidents i've come across. Sometimes you can snap your fingers and say 'drats! better luck next time i guess', sometimes you question it cuz it's just down right dirty, and sometimes you're just out smarted and have to accept it. this 'move' we're discussing in my opinion falls under the dirty category. I've made my case clear i hope and I'm just looking for some clarification. Anybody else got anything other than 'awesome move, i do it too!'?
No it's not a cheap move, it's a SMART trick to escape. Stop whining and find a solution to counter the technique.
A cheap move is when you send a Battleship against a Fighter.
Also, we all gave you a clarification, that is not a glitch. Wasn't that your original question? If it was a glitch/haxploit/etc. or a normal move that everyone can do?
Even if nobody told you that it wasn't a glitch, by having multiple players saying they have done it and still do it, then it is most likely a common technique of escape.
With that logic, as many rules being broken on a daily bases, some violations should be made into acceptable gameplay due to the number of people doing it. RPing would be out the window too, cuz less people do it than we hope do it.
So sincerely, friend, no.
Sorry if this seems like whining to you, but we have 13k+ friends in this community. 9 responses to one side of the question doesn't exactly set my mind at ease. Be it, it's the only 9 responses, but I would still like to see some more before I consider this settled.
I've got to agree that it's a valid tactic. If you fail to disable the TL before your target hits it, and they shut the door behind them, they simply win the day. This is a technique I've used as both a lawful and an unlawful.
I'm trying to set a specific "logic". I'm trying to tell you that if 9 people respond with similar answers, then most likely, it is not a glitch or a hack that only few people know about. They wouldn't even have responded in this thread if it was. People usually use glitches to gain advantage, if people find out about those glitches, they will be removed, then their advantage disappears. So, again, if it was a glitch, then people wouldn't really be so open to tell you.
There is nothing more for me to tell you other than, your question has been fully answered, all that is left is your opinion of what it is. And to be honest, this is Discovery, people don't give a damn about opinions.

Let make it in RP. If the guy is smuggling, any lawful should immediatly take a proof picture, and bretonia blacklist smugglers saying they are baned from there for sometime no matter what they are hauling. For pirates I have to say that you have his name. Just inform in your message dump that he is a fugitive. Meaning he is two time more in trouble next time he get caught.
Hmmm, why canadians are the only to have a sig image.
Regardless as to whether its a glitch or not, its built right into the game mechanics, and I think FL only cares about the rings infront of you, not the ones behind you so I doubt that changing it to be otherwise would be a walk in the park.
To put it simply, we can't exactly change it easily, and to put a rule for it would be to... unwieldy. So it is a legit tactic.
