Thanks for the reply as I'm pulling my hair out here.:)So, I guess what the deal is here is that if I want to have a Freelancer ID, then I have to settle for a popcorn ship that will explode in one hit and weapons that are completely ineffective against anything in the game.
Even cruising around in my Nephthys with 14.5 hull strength and a class 6 shield, I had a pirate kill me last night in one hit. I can't even imagine using a low grade ship with mediocre weapons to get around the game with.

Make sure you have civilian weapons . . .
This and a freelancer ID, with neutral or Zoner IFF, and I think you should be able to travel around almost anywhere without too many problems from other players . . .

Well, There are some pretty good Zoner ships out there . . . (I read you fly a VHF) . . . . .
The Eagle is a pretty decent fighter, mount the right weapons, and Mk VIII armor, and (I think), that it will give a show to any other VHF out there . . . (but, this is only my opinion) . . .
I wish you the best of luck . .:)

Thanks again for the tip!:)I did stumble across the Raven's Claw which is originally from IMG, but the article here http://www.discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?...Raven%27s_Talon states it is build by civilian (even though it's black market) and that Freelancers use this ship. Perhaps this is what I want then? LOL I'm trying to avoid popcorn craft cause I love to explore and the Eagle will pop just going into jumpholes as I have discovered recently. :o
So, I guess my new question is; can I use the Raven's Claw with a Freelancer ID?
And about the luck; thanks, I'll clearly need it!:D
With a few obvious exceptions, Freelancers can fly most any fighters/bombers/gunboats/transports. The only catch is, if it isnt civilian, generic pirate, or a widespread factions ship, you need to keep it inside their ZoI. Such as the Blood Dragon Fighter per se, you'd look kinda silly infront of New Tokyo with it. Same with New York.
Common sense is key to what ship you want to fly

Thanks for jumping in! Yes, a mess it is indeed!:)I didn't realize all this factions and ZoI stuff before I bought the Neph...so I'm out in the cold with that mistake. Here is what I'm looking at now and this *should* be legal from what I am reading.
Freelancer ID with Raven's Talon or Wasupu ship. Since those are Civilian built ships, I shouldn't have any problems. By the time I get the credits together to buy it, that should knock me down to level 36 or so again...therefore I'll be able to use a Civilian ID until I reach level 40. *sigh* I *hope* I have all this right this time cause I can't afford another mistake after that last one. I already wasted 3 nights on this mess. Thanks for the help!

You don't need to rebuy the ID when you get a new ship, you can just transfer it across, saving you the 80k replacement cost. (Although personally, I often forget and have to rebuy)
If you drop me a pm with your character name, I'll send some credits your way. Given that you obviously want to play within the boundaries of the rules, I don't mind helping you rectify your situation.

Also, have you considered the Spatial SHF? It's listed as an exploration vessel so would fit how you want to play the game.
It sounds like you're having trouble because you're not using an armor upgrade. Look into buying one from an equipment dealer and you should have a much easier time.
Also you can find much better shields than class 6.
I'd help you further but I can't get in game for a few days.
Janus helped me out a great deal in-game last night and set me straight on the issues I was confused about. I'm now fully legal with my goals laid out in front of me and the rest is just a matter of time and patience. I appreciate everyone's response in this matter and especially Janus for taking the time to steer me straight and make me realize some of the points I was missing.
