I just spent a couple hours trying these new guns out and I like them. It makes the bomber a more specialized ship instead of an "I win" ship. The guns speed are SLOW. You can write your name in space with the shots. But they are strong. I unloaded on a gunboat and watched the shield wither. I blasted away at a dessie and could see the shield slowly drop. Now, the guns of a bomber cant be ignored. You used to only have to worry about the torps. Now a bomber lines up and unloads a stream of fire, you have to do something about it.
Will they be weaker vs. Fighters? Yep. With the guns' slower velocity, hitting is harder. But if you DO hit...they feel it.
Just try it out for a few days. Go to Conn. and experiment with it.
give our figters a dps boost to THEIR guns now. As far as i can see, the bomber changes are a good step in the right direction, now we need to bring the thing meant to KILL them out of uselessness.
How about we all keep it in perspective and realize that some players are exceptional Bomber pilots and they will adapt and overcome these nerfs? What I think alot of people fail to realize is the skill of the player. Some people are excellent bomber pilots, some are horrible bomber/fighter pilots. The player with better skill will generally beat the player of lesser skill in an even fight. Yes if a player is dumb enough to fly head on at a bomber that player will die. It was the same way before this update, the same way in .84.
It is nigh impossible to take out someone who is actively pursuing another target. Weather they are a bomber or a fighter. If they are intent on dodging your fire and taking well placed shots at theirs then you will probably not hit them, but again this is a basis of player skill.
We cant keep nerfing and buffing to try and compensate for a player's skills.
So your saying having damn near fighter agility and codenames with snacs', 50% more armor and 75% more bots/bats was balanced to begin with? bombers needed a cut down, the fact that even terrible pilots could go head to head with fighters in dogfights said somthing. Things are a step in the right direction.
Seriously, can we just play the game and see how these new changes effect things before jumping to conclusions?
Hell, I'm pretty annoyed at some changes too *points at Greyhound nerf.. again*
But I'm not going to go posting angry threads about it until I've tested it myself.
