Day 9

Within one day, I had gone completely through the information on the drive and decided it was too dangerous to keep on my person. I had read through everything that was of consequence and decided it was safer to delete the remaining data than to keep it. What I had learned so far was that the Borei weren't friendly, but that we were the ones who had antagonized them to start with. It was only right that they attack us for invading their space...but why attack us in our space more than 10 years later? Why now?

Something wasn't making sense. Did they misunderstand our customs? Did they see mankind attacking one another and consider it some kind of tradition? I wasn't sure. I couldn't be sure. I could understand the IMG's reasons for keeping everything under wraps. In many ways they could be blamed for the hostilities between humanity and a potential ally against the Phantoms and beyond...but even beyond that, it made no sense. The Borei seemed intelligent; the larger of the Borei claimed that I was their food. That didn't match up with what I thought in the back of my mind.

Then, it clicked in my mind.

For 10 years the Borei remained hidden from mankind after first contact was severed by the IMG destabilizing the jumpholes into the Ceti systems. 10 years of no new food source. Perhaps whatever food they were using before ran out and they needed a new one...humans. The Borei were smart however, they wouldn't come across much longer as hostile. No, they would come across as friends and attempt to win over mankind by kindness, show them their systems freely, and then take as many humans as they could once peace looked good between the two races. That is what I would have done, win over the hearts and minds of the populace, then kidnap as many of the species as possible to breed them and create more for their own uses.

My God...I grabbed my things and made my way to my RT. I had to warn as many people as possible of the incurring threat to Sirius. As I made it to the RT however, armed guards stood in my way, each of them holding rather large rifles. A man in the front of them had his arms crossed and looked me up and down. I did not recognize the rank on his collar as a single "O" with three stars around it. I didn't know who he was until he spoke.

"Karl Rose?" he asked.

"Y-yes?" I said backing up.

"My name is Agent Jayce Wilder of the Order. You are to come with us immediately and you will not resist. Doing so would be bad for your health. Your ship's IFF has been removed physically from your onboard systems. You are to leave it here. We have a shuttle prepped for launch as we speak to take us back to my ship."

"...and if I don't go?" I asked.

The Order agent smiled looking down. He looked back up to me with a serious face.

"Then we kill you for the information you know. Take your pick Mr. Rose."

Cursing my luck I nodded my head and followed the Order Agent to the shuttle moored with Falkland and left the station.

My day just got a whole lot worse.

You fear oblivion. Yet you forget. The universe remembers every atom of your being. Even dust hums your name in the dark.
