I see asteroid fields as pretty much the one and only disadvantage to flying a battleship. Why remove that one disadvantage?

<sarcasm>Why not just give all battleships a warp drive so they can instantly teleport to any base that they've docked with?</sarcasm> :rolleyes:

first: I KNOW that they can be removed, but id would ruin the game!

And i sayed making those very small ones bigger but those don't affect so hard the bumping!!!!

About the guns....... well is it posible to make one that deals very low damage... only enough to destroy the asteroids that can fire in cruise? As the CM can be used in cruise mode.

OR The speed could be increased to the cruise speed....... or with the afterburner.... a battleship afterburner.
That way normal guns can fire.

<irony> Oh so that's the only disadvantage? ok so maneuvarability is ok.... all battleships can sharp-turn just like a light fighter right? it's all packet up in a very hard to hit surface right? it's not big... very triky to hit yes? </irony>

If you could kill asteroids, then they'd be essentially stationary NPCs... NPCs cause lag... That many NPCs, even more lag than we see now. Especially in Kusari. Bad idea, folks.

I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.

Tzunami; I said it was a BAD Idea. I was just pointing out it is possible to remove the asteroid field's static asteroids

@Drake; Take that battleship against a small, more agile, Rheinland Bomber? I think you'll find some more 'disadvantages.' I'm thinking we have another battleship-obsessed player here.. They aren't a sure win.. Nor are they better than all the other ships. Try killing a fighter with a BS. Not very easy is it? Now try it with a GB? Pretty dang easy. Everything has its own specialty.

Actually, I neither fly nor wish to fly a battleship, they're too big for my taste. But I've tried them out in single-player and never really had a problem killing fighters. Light fighters can be tricky, but they're also not really any threat. Of course, things might be different in PvP, but I've never given it a try.

Here is a tip you should ALWAYS remember.. NEVER test a ship out on NPCs when you'll be using it to kill players. NEVER works. NPCs only use thruster 25% of the time, where players use it 95% of the time. Players can turn their ships faster, as NPCs don't push the ships to their limits. Players can carry 5 times more firepower than Corsair and Outcast VHF patrols. Players can have 4 times the armor of the same ship with an NPC, because of armor. Players are smart enough to know when, and what way, to dodge to make a BS's shots miss, NPCs turn at random.

Try testing a BS out against players if you want to have any clue how it works.. Using an example of killing an NPC to base your judgements on is a very bad thing to do.

Thats the point Templar, its not a problem ... Its part of the game. If you remove it, it becomes too easy.
This is still a vanilla mod, not a total expansion. Battleships should remain something you have to plan to
move around.

The most stupid thing i have ever done was trying to move a zoner juggernaught from o-theta to cambridge. Even made a post about it and pleaded admins to move me back to planet cambridge with that ship. I made it back though but i felt the eye-burning and brain-melting concept deep in my heart in the nearly 2 hours period lasting long journey.

If the battleships had the ability to roam freely in asteroid fields, well most of the battleships would be made obsolote such as adv. bstar or etc which are preferred by players since they move slightly easier in the rocks than the real big arse battleships. Still its not a wise idea to take any battleship into the rocks if you do not have the guts to venture out meeting unfortunate facts.
