Well, see, this illustrates the major problem with this situation: it always seems to me, and many other people it would appear, that Official Factions have much too little power. I think we need to figure out what's what in that debate before anything can really be addressed.

Unnecessary, I'd say. Rather have more for specific, very well RPing, long-standing community members (on a single char or something), personally.

Another question. It's been discussed before, stations switching ownership occasionally based on official events. I think it was something about trade routes/patrols having to be altered that made it impossible.
Hence, have the stations be in new systems, or somewhere in current systems where patrols don't pass by, and make the trade goods very specific & generic (eg only buys oxygen, food supplies, things like that, and only sells other generic stuff), that's not faction-specific, but simply something any station needs?
Just another idea.

EDIT: Oh and Alex, edited my other post to clarify something, didn't see you guys' ninja before I posted:P

No, they don't.
They have more than enough power. Plus a cap 8 armour upgrade if they have been around 3 months!
And about the making them faction only, or allowing them to give permission for caps - even worse. I can see this power being abused because of personal opinions already.

Yes, true, it might be abused. But everything, literally, can be abused, doesn't make it bad necessarily.
It could also be more than just the faction leader, eg a sort of committee/council of members from a faction, but yeah.

Just an idea after all.

EDIT: And to clarify, I'm saying this as someone who's not in a single faction at this moment and has has several indies.

I've got one. Bit better than last one tho.
Why should indie traders have the same chance for profit as the faction player traders?
Why can't a factioned trader have some advantage?

I'm talking about discount for the prices, or I'm talking about docking for only factioned players.
I mean, question that rises here is why should Kishiro sell their Optitronics to Neil Patrick Harris (who has nothing with Kishiro) for the same price as to a Kishiro Exporter.

Actually Kishiro Exporter should have them for price of manufacture while NPH should have them for some selling price.

I like Ivan's idea, faction discount for ID's related to that base. So Kishiro get discounts at Kishiro bases, Interspace (and by extension the IND) get discounts at Interspace beases and so on. If that can be implemented. But that cannot be restricted to Official Factions only I feel.
