Woah, that's a great idea! True, it wouldn't make much sense, but, obviously, it's a different type of oil, from a different type of world, which was shattered by some cataclysmic event. Rather auspicious that it just happened to be in Gallia.

You could use the badlands-style asteroids, but remove the purple dust and veins from the rocks, and replace it with grey. Also, as I mentioned, the asteroid field would have to be overlayed with a dark matter cloud (doesnt have to be radioactive, just the dark smokey effect) - would create a truly foreboding area to mine in, with blackness all around and even darker, strange shapes showing up in the sides of your vision.

Of course, such a field would likely be in the gallic core systems, which are supposedly going to be released in 4.86. My biggest concern with gallic mining, however, is the npc's... even with escorts, a single npc bomber patrol can completely wreck a mining ship before it even has a chance to react - armor or not, escorts or not, weapons or not.

I think that the gallic borderworlds are 'fine' having such npc's - I dont like them, and I doubt many people do - but there is a war being raged in the borderworlds and it makes sense to be more dangerous. The core systems, however, should not have the number of unlawful faction npc's, and those npc's should be far weaker than their borderworlds counterparts. The council and maquis should not even have bases within the core of gallia, and brigand/corse should be limited in area of influence at best, with a few small operating areas in hard to patrol places.

Doesnt matter how profitable we make a gallic mining zone if the miners are instakilled by npc spawns.

I need to admit that this is great idea Tenacity where were you when .85 was created. *smiles*
Unfortunately this version of Gallia is like small hell for all commercial organizations.

Neither the way I got my Miner almost set up and ready for Gallia mine fields extraction. We will so what does it has to offer. I only hope that Dusty gives some bonuses for GMS miners.
