I believe system factions should take more weighted role in their appopriate areas. It's down to them to provide that political aspect that I mentioned, so it's important they keep a consistent and powerful presence where they are supposed to be. In addition, factions provide the larger-scale economy and military elements. Basically, factions should, in my opinion, step up activity and take some risks.

Also, although I'm not fond of such a thing, I think that perhaps a sort of core story, for now, could bring Role Play up a level. Basically, creating a story arc that simply gets factions and individuals alike involved. It would have to be something fairly broad- having a one person "hero" story, like you would see in single-player, would leave a lot of people excluded. However, offering a new element that's been unseen before, a completely brand new aspect, would really liven people up to do some Role Play, because they want to feel like they are a part of something.

Pfft. I don't have best of the best ship, heck it takes hours for me to kill opponent using fighter, yet go on and I play, I enjoy it. RP is RP, PvP is PvP, this isn't Quake, isn't Unreal Tournament. What this mod needs is more balance. The balance, but not equation. Beta or not - balance doesn't come once and for all, it's changing throughout the time and there is a feeling of balance in keeping it changing from time to time. People will always look for the "best" in a class, and the first thing comes to mind is to tone down those ships/equipment that are picked most of all.

Turning off PvP doesn't solve _anything_ at all in a long run, all it does is pissing off people who enjoy both RP and PvP.

Well now see, ya we would get a lot fixed if the PvP was disabled... When it will also just cause more problems;

Good stuff for shutting down PvP for a week;
  • 1. All the PvP whores will get bored and leave.
  • 2. Everyone will have no choice to dedicate time to RP instead of PvP.
  • 3. Can get a lot of trading done.
Bad Stuff;
  • 1. The second the PvP comes back online there will be battleships everywhere from people trading like mad.
  • 2. You will have modders/hackers go nuts trying to find out why PvP doesn't work and cause server crashs/player file corruption.
  • 3. Some RPs won't get done because it involves violance (As Blunt said)
And then we have what will happen if we just left it is as;
  • 1. Everything stays exactly the same. (Now, I'm not sure if thats good or bad really...)

turning off pvp in rp amkes no sense. pvp is a big part of rp.

I agree with Dboy...........turning PVP is not a sure fire solution to our problem. We also have to look at how many people actually RP in their traders? Now add the fact that there are no pirates to slow anyone down............

Cosmetic fix more then anything.

What we can do without however, are the all the people who can only manage to say " u wanna pvp?"

I can't tell you how many systems I heard this in....and from faction tagged players who should know better.

If PvP makes it fun, go to the PvP server. At least try out the new mod?

Also treewyrm, Sorry i blanketed everyone under that, but its the majority i was referring too not the minority which is what you are in.

I will agree that PvP is a big part of RP. However, we need to balance it, and right now the RP server is more like a PvP server in my eyes.

Yeah, the 'wanna pvp' annoys the hell outta me too.

If they at least made the effort to say,

"Would you care for a training session, pilot?"

I wouldn't be annoyed as it is perfectly acceptable. But when they don't even try with a simple line like this... urgh.
