As I said in the other topic: personally I'd go with somewhere around 1.5k for not to completely prevent people from solo-mining. Furthermore I think bringing it below 1k would result in massive mafic-spam instead.

1k works.
You can still make a cool profit with it, and it won't take too long to mine it.
Also Mafics are lulzy.
Nerfing the Hegemon will induce even more unrest, which will eventually lead to nerfing pirates, which will eventually lead to nerfing Discovery until everybody flies a Starflea with water guns.
Emo-trip by chance? I bet they will make pink guns for the Starflea too. Rather give another option how to improve the situation instead of just saying "You are doing it wrong". And of course a Hegemon nerf would need a buff for either the mining prices or the yields (I would prefer the yields to get the people out of the mining areas)

How about we just make acquiring money less of a frustrating chore? People might feel more inclined to hand over money without bitching if paying up wouldn't add another 30 minutes of mindless work to their schedules...

And by removing it you remove few factions, you remove major fun for all involved. You remove 2/3 of the player interactions in game. Chances to get something on the line as pirate are smaller then get something in system full with miners/hauers. Yes mining is good because it encourage team-play. I robbed 1 bill from miners not because I am mega- good PvP pirate and kill 5 mining ships against me, but because we done it in a gank- at least 2 or 3 people together. Some miners done it too. They haven't lost anything or much due to pirates. The only one who are not needed are SINGLE miners and SINGLE pirates- in this situation there is no difference between trader being robbed and miner being robbed.
Removing hegemons =/= removing mining. Group mining, a few mafics/dacites and an atlas or two, is how OMS does it. OMS is... awfully successful.
edit: Though I don't believe in removing hegemons. I'm just saying, hegemons aren't the only mining ship.
