Exactly! I emidiatly got the Idea it was voxel gfx realy.
The gfx is not a scam, only the presentation of voxel as "infinite" vertices (multiple of vertex) is very missleading and wrong in a "cheap" way.

In real voxel gfx is old technology and was only mediocre successfull (for instance Comanche 4, Heli-sim, 2001).

As Dartstriker said, it'd actually cut time used on making graphics (at the very least meshes), which means either a smaller development cycle or more time spent on other areas.

Ask yourself if Freespace would've been the same game were it made by today's companies, with today's technology.

And no, it won't mean more time spent in other areas. Don't kid yourself. I'm 3d modeller, you're a 3d modeller. People like us will simply put more time and effort into making everything seem s00par realistic rather than focus on anything -new- in gameplay or a cohesive and enjoyable plot. Why? Because that's the way people like us are.

Honestly, the last time I saw good graphics, gameplay, and storyline mesh flawlessly was War in Heaven, and that's a community made mod for a 10+ year old pixelship game.

But that's np, going to go model smooth things with 305839855 polygons now.
