Doesn't mean they shouldn't ask Jinx and the others first.

I'd think the idea of the "Special Ships" would be for them to be used in special circumstances, like for unique events or for giving players a small, but sound gift as a huge "Thank You" from the server staff for helping us maintain our server, as not everyone can rake a lot of money per month, just to maintain a hobby? It's hardly ethical to the person doing it. We also in no way are forcefully "selling" these "Special Ships" for cash donation, instead we are just simply offering the ability to purchase them if a player wants to be thanked by the Admins, or not.

I think if the dev team has a problem with this, they will get in touch with the server operator to deal with it. Let's let that subject drop now.

Good luck fellas.

In that case I don't understand why everybody gets such a rash here when someone proposes a similar idea.

Always feel Good to hear That Discovery Mod and the game Freelancer is still expanding, i dont care what other says but in my personal opinion its a very good step and also the Gift incentive part, and if Discovery Devs or Real owners have problem with it then their must be another way of gift incentives ,like it maybe in game credits gift etc.
Everybody has Rights for their opinions and they varies.
so Thank you form my side for the new server and for expanding the Discovery freelancer universe. keep it up;)

Currently the server is experiencing some technical difficulties.

We have contacted the hosts to have this sorted as soon as possible. I can not say for certain when the problem will be fixed, however, I have high hopes that it will be fixed by tomorrow afternoon at the latest. (23rd January, 2012 AEST)

The server appears to be still displaying in the Discovery server list as normal but with 1/50 players online; this is incorrect.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused by these difficulties and again we hope to have the server back up asap.

Jinx doesn't own the Perseophone model. Once a dev submits their work to Discovery and it is included, it becomes property of the Discovery mod itself. Furthermore, these are things people use on a gaming server. They aren't selling a real product that people use. It's a ship in a game. These ships were made with the intent of people to actually use them.

Discovery may not give out gifts for donations, but that doesn't mean other servers with a much smaller playerbase can't. Remember, we get more donations than other servers will on account of the vastly larger playerbase we have. They have smaller playerbases and thus might need to offer such incentives in order to get enough donations to cover server hosting and upgrading costs.

Server is back up as much as it's going to be for the moment. There is some initial login lag once you've selected the character but that soon goes away and game-play is fine. ;)

I have requested a hardware check, so here's hoping that it gets fixed soon and is back to being fully functioning as per normal.

In happier news, The server is getting a hardware upgrade! :yahoo:

Here're the specs:

CPU:
1 Core(s)

RAM Amount:
3.5GB

HDD Size:
45GB

Premium Bandwith:
25GB

OS:
Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit)
