No-one's inconsequential. Everyone has an ultimate effect on the outcome of all scenarios they partake in, especially in such a tight knit group as those that form around factions.
One person speaking up, persuading, can have all the difference in the world, especially when they speak from a position of ignorance or superior knowledge.

Unfortunately, not everyone can be special. Our current field of operation is in Omega-49, nowhere was Freeport 1 included in this and frankly, there is nothing a Freeport in Omega-3 can do in regards to this situation. What can one station do that will change the tide of a conflict? Not much. And no, he left the SCRA a long time ago. He doesn't like us very much anymore, but the feeling is mutual so it's np.

Being special has nothing to do with influence.
The very act of giving input on a situation, or even being marginally involved makes one part of the equation.
Yes, certain key people make all the "important" decisions, but in virtually all cases their decisions are modified or added to by the actions of those around them, and in this case, the physical server distance is completely immaterial to the influence the FP1 Zoners and their players have on the situation.
And yes, not everyone is a superspecial snowflake, but that does not allow one to disregard the very real effects of peer pressure and group decision making.
Not to mention how any event is viewed by the community at large.

I think, Aphil, if you take a long look at the history of Discovery player interactions, you will find in every instance a long and noble pattern of very small groups (or even one person) making all the difference.

I could of worded things a lot better, so let me try this again.
Not a lot of people know what's going on because if everyone knew, the effect and in general much of the whole point of these events would be for nothing. The people who know are the leaders of factions involved in the affair, how they wish to disseminate information is up to them, though in general we like to keep things on a need to know basis. Nothing's stopping them from making decisions or choices based on the information their character have. We are stopping them from making decisions based on information their characters shouldn't and don't have. Lets not kid ourselves, people would metagame this if they had the chance, which is why we're not giving them the chance. Imagine, having to make choices based on what you see and hear, not what you know beforehand based on plans laid out in advance.
As I told Alvin and Del yesterday, retcon is lame. Why not just every faction retcon all the things that happen with their faction they dont like. Poor form.
There is no retconning going on. Someone made a typo in a forum message and corrected it.
Alvin did consider retconning the entire thing due to all the ooRP whine and hate. Admins said no. We're role playing it out. I know what is going on and am fine with it. XTriton knows what is going on.
We're keeping what we know on the down low because the entire reason of the role play would be compromised if we made it public knowledge.
As official factions - the SCRA, OSI, TAZ, and another official faction are trying to evolve the role play of our respective NPC factions. You don't need to know every single detail. Just enjoy the activity that it has created.
The reason the CoF leaders weren't informed is because the CoF isn't official. This isn't to say OSI and TAZ think less of the CoF. Merely that, in the end it is OSI and TAZ that directly effect Zoner role play if this evolves into one of Del's events.
I shared some of the info I was given with Gytrash and he sent it to the other leaders of the CoF. It explained what was going on.

Isn't this sad? Aren't we all the same under the human rights? We assisted a change of RP with Rheinland and IC, all organize and announced ... but this ... i only knew today ... and because i readed the Comms channel, yesterday i only comed here because of some messages. And what i saw ... why some when get bored decided to shoot Zoners? Let me think .. oohh! We aren't organized so we can't make a good resistence so it is easy victory, and that means a good victory for some sad egos. But ok! I was here on the first Corsair conflict ... i was here on the conflict on Delta with the B Hunters .. i did something on this conflicts, on the second conflict with Corsairs i did nothing because some decided to do for all .. and know ... i can't do nothing because i'm not special! There is a portuguese that is know as "the special one" but i'm not him and i don't care about him.

How many ships of those factions do you see been attacked? Indie Zoners are the ones that most suffer and they aren't specials!

This way you can also enjoy~!
As for FP1 and all other stations, i think it all people that "belong" to that stations should have their roles previously known, who is the boss, who is the security chief, who is the trader ... things like that! And when there is some very important announcement to make, before post it... is beter that should be discuss by all ok?
Now i'm busy, and i will have visitors at my home, but tomorrow i will .... let's say ... enjoy what some specials ones decided!
