I'm all for this, personally.

We've had more than a little discussion as of late in respect for expanding upon the "rolls" of the LPI *pause for laughs* to free up the SA/LSF from the duty of actually policing the mean lanes of Liberty. To get the law into the other three systems for example.

My vote for the detective bit is a resounding yea.

Edit: Forgot to add, my vote for a battleship is a resounding nau.

I like the idea of a battleship mounting Adv. Starbeam turrets. Comedic relief ftw!!!

As far as everything else goes, I'm more partial to using either Eagles or Guardians for both detective and SWAT, might help keep things looking more orderly.

I have faith in zapp's judgment, and eagerly await aforementioned uber RP story.

I have to say I'm a bit confused about the Detective rank. Now, is this a way to deal with the indie LPI by integrating them and controlling them?

As a rule when I'm on my LPI I do both the non-serious comedic relief bit, and the serious patrolling.

Besides adding the Law-Order tv-show idea is there any other real reasons for this group?

As for the havok, I'm not sure what could be done bout it. Only other thought could be switching swat to VHFs like the new detective role. The havok isn't terribly effective, though I have killed a few fighters with my Minis and a gunboat, you just need a pack of other ships.

As for the Dready, i love the idea, can't wait to read more on it.

Mike Arenson would probably like an Arrow Interceptor or a very heavy fighter, because his Liberator even isn't giving him enough reasons to be out on patrol.

Honestly, I can't fly light fighters worth jack. But an Arrow would be a great thing to zoom around in and a VHF would give me the firepower I'd be asking for. The Havok Mk II I've yet to fly under the LPI, since I don't think I ever got permission to get one, plus I'm lacking Mk VIII armour for the poor guy as it is.

Heh, I'm minus the armor as well, but that hasn't stopped me from taking out the Highlander and the Necrosis. (with help)

Highlander I had a VHF who had expended missiles and gotten him to about 75% hull, we had a fleet for the Necrosis...

Meh, I'll have to nab that MkVIII offa the Haddock soon.

A Police dreadnought?... I'm... confused, Zapp. I haven't the slightest idea what's on your head. All I can say right now...

I think, if LPI wants a cap, take a prison-ship... But, about detectives, I think they will be the "sword of justice", don't they ? So, they'll need firepower and, so, new ships : the eagle isn't a bad idea in my mind.

Good luck !
Even if I'm a LR...

OK for gentle RP, OK for gentle PvP too. What do you prefer ?

Prison liner is a good idea actually....

1. About Dread... ehm.... no.... do I read it right that you want it to fight other capships? Since when is that police job? And there are always tons of idependent lawfull capships around in liberty not mentioning SA ones... or LNS ... no real need to have your own...

2. Swat

Havoc is not an uber bomber... but it's usable...much more than say Thor btw.....but ok Guardians are fine as well

3. Detective
Well Detective is someone that is investigating/searching... so not doing the same as SWAT...

Executioner is the ship that comes to my mind (yes they can be quite effective...ask Razr:)), other options would be Avenger... and Arrow (perfect for "detective" job... searching for smugglers, pirate bases... and calling others (SWAT, Navy...) when he needs.

I'm not really a fan of you starting to use the civilian line....especially when liberty has a whole bucket of ships...

Forgetting all the ship type chatter and cap ship stuff--a detective is a great idea.

He would be the one who took screen shots of criminals and smugglers and prepared cases against them. No more, "We think you might be smuggling therefore you die" stuff. he would actually gather evidence.

Detectives could be assigned to specific smugglers (those with the ID) and would have some authority over inactive LPI "beat" officers being able to tell them to "go watch this place" or "scan that ship and take a screen shot and send it to me".

Would be very cool if to catch a criminal you had actual law and legal process.

Just my thoughts.
