Oh yeah, if you don't have all the factions on your rep sheet it is *very* easy to accidentally get one and not notice in the storm of comings and goings. Tags change very quickly if you shoot NPCs without "locking" a tag by doing missions or uber bribing a faction. However, some of the stuff you've said is most certainly an error, and a weird one at that. I suggest re-installing the game and grabbing the mod from the download pointed to from the forums, just in case.

As for Nomad and Wild, there is a Nomad ID (never used), a Keepers ID, and a Wild ID. The Keepers and Wild IDs are available on the appropriate bases and are only available with admin help, as their reputation otherwise stays fixed at full red.

The only reason I asked that is because you said it "was great for a free game".

I think you guys missed that part about the pirate relogging, not Nikko.
It seems to my logic that the problem was also with the pirate computer.
And if that is the case, then who else is seeing things they shouldn't?
It might explain a lot of the indies actions.

You still have to scan ID before attacking- anyone who says "I shot you because you were red in HUD" should get a nice admin poke if they don't apologize and go read the rules another three times.

Boy, don't ever happen to think that you could exploit things as you wish by neglecting the tags just because there are occasional bugs, which may require some decent effort to handle. This will never be an excuse for such a behaviour.

IMO, that particular one doesn't work so good in practice. Suppose a fella has an Endeavor scanner and you have a Deep scanner. He scan you, but he's still out of your scanner range. If said fella is in a GB, he can waste you before you get a chance to react. (This comes from an incident a while back...GB with no tag, pirate ID. I asked him later and he said that he didn't have to scan mine because I had the name of "LPI - LPI-Jeff.Markey[s]" Anyways. Not a trial by forums please.)

I propose we buy everyone Adv. Cargo scanners. That's what I always use, the other stuff just doesn't seem worth it...

The right way, in my humble opinion is to scan them first, ask whatever questions you may have and THEN you shoot them if it's needed.

(Although i can understand why a military goon would like to RP ye old "Shoot first ask questions later" mindset *shrug*)

Ah good point, I should have rephrased; I was referring to the fact that you don't have to pay monthly, should have made it more clear. My apologies.

My point exactly.
