Long Island in NY seems to be open to those with good standing with Navy to and I believe they are accepting goods for construction. Another is the GMG base in Okinawa whose name I forget. They always have H-3 for sale and when it's not full to capacity are accepting H-3.

So there you have it, 3 bases open to majority of lawful forces and are open for trade. (Naturally Platinum Inc is best, come visit us hehe).

Good to hear that - i'm going to see what bus i can do with them.

Josey, you forgot fact that in Freelancer, space-based game pirates are:

obviously carrying ID's, IFF and ships mostly associated with unlawful activity. They are mostly killed on sight by local authorities unless they can bring them in easily (which happens rarely). Base is not your regular restaurant - while anyone can walk into shop or bar, to access station you need permission. Being it granted beforehand or blanket for entire faction, by letting obvious pirates in you are supporting them - becoming criminal yourself and making your installation illegal - subject to immediate demolish by navy if negotiations fail.

Maybe if the base includes the word “open” and allows all; the base should be immune except from terrorists.

Yea, but restaurants don't come with defensive platforms, nor do they manufacture military grade goods. And generally, pirate factions enjoy getting into trouble over doing "unsocial" things Big Grin

Trade centers could, with the IFF assigned to the station, become open to all now. The choice is to the base owners. I know it tends to take a lot of micromanagement to make sure that if you open a base to all, that you set your stores so that other players can't cripple a base by taking away critical goods or flooding a base with useless goods. I think that is the main reason people deny random unknowns access to their bases.

The only bases that allow criminals and get away with it are:
1. Freeports in borderworlds which still carry a risk of lawfuls being finally annoyed and threaten local Zoners until they bring in order and set clear rules that police will approve of. Therefore making your point void.
2. Pirate dedicated stations hidden in fields and nebulas.

Except Sirius is antisocial by nature, so its perfectly fine to blow up things you don't like

What about bases like ours?
Melbourne station is a Military Installation built within an area restricted to Military only traffic.
Would you expect to be able to just walk into a Military base without them trying to stop you?

As for your "restaurant" example, not all buildings are restaurants. You can't expect to be able to just walk into a company office, or someones house, and expect to be welcomed.

Access is limited for both inRP and OORP reasons, most of which are usually legitimate.

The OORP reason generally being that the people who spend time and effort on constructing a base, don't want to see it robbed of all resources, undoing all the work they put into the place.

The inRP reasons range from things like diplomacy to national security, you wouldn't see a Xeno docking on a Police base, and you wouldn't see somebody unaffiliated with a Military organization docking on a military station without prior clearances and all that jazz.

HA HA! Thanks guys.
Sure there would be stations just for a faction – especially military or police stuff. But many of the stations are more civil – I think. I just recon that the general public could help with the needed goods.
I’ll look up the bases mentioned and see what trade can be done with them.
