The first reason it takes so long, is coz they haven't identified all the possible ways to screw things up. I've seen people develop whole games within the timeframe from the release of 4.86 up to now. Don't give me that crap about having lives, coz you don't. If you did, you wouldn't spend as much time here as you do. And what about the rest of the people? Don't they have lives aswell? But they still manage to be productive.

You always hide behind that convenient imaginary wall. Newsflash!!! If you think you can't handle it... Step aside! Plenty of people who can take your place. Don't ever think that it's impossible to replace someone.

The second reason is PRESTIGE! Server Fapmin is the title that gives you the keys to the city. The fact that most of the "new" fapmins only seem to want those keys for a night out in that city doesn't seem to bother anyone. This prestigious title is something that some hang on to as if their life depended upon it, and when the critique starts coming, what do they do? Hide, stay silent, ignore or lash out with a complete lolbann or all of the above.

The third reason would most likely be because they actually don't know what the hell they're doing in the first place. I mean... The anticheat. How's that working out for ya? DPC running wild all over the server raping everything in sight. Not once, not twice but several times a day. When you're as a Fapmin is totally powerless against such attacks, then you REALLY need to take a long close look at what the hell you're actually doing.

Personally... I find the DPC-attacks quite amusing, but keep that to yourself. *chuckles*

Why versions take long?

Because there won't be a new version. It's just a conspiracy, a lie so that they will keep people playing disco

When you look back at the 4.86 development you'll see that they must have spent more time talking about it and turning back people who were willing to contribute than actually creating stuff.

There were people willing to write infocards, bar rumors, help systems, polish up systems, who were told to go screw themselves cause they aint friends with the head people in charge.

Now we're stuck with 10 emo-order "I'm sitting in a bar feeling sorry for myself" bar rumors, noobs who still have no idea what an iff is or how to adjust their rep, 500k of nothingness to fly through in the omicrons, more gallia, and a "funny" LN ID that tells people to act oorp and hate each other.

It's funny because I've had it all explained to me by a developer already.

Also, ad hominem is a bad thing to base your arguements on, Ronnie.

Holy crap, is it really that bad? Are they really turning down people who really want to help? Why?!

They aren't elitist enough to read a few starport articles and start dev'ing.

Silly pretexts like permabans and stuff.

Mainly they want to keep their influence in the dev team so they can use it to give themselves the cool stuff and their enemies the crap, and to give more weight to their own opinion in arguments.

lol conspiracy

On a more serious note, all these rumours about people being turned away are just false. Only one who gets turned away are DPC and known trolls. For all the "legit" people I suppose part of the problem is that there is no official recruitment channel for the dev team right now when there should be. The truth of the matter is that a lot of progress relies on a few very key people and when those people burn out, everything grinds to a halt. Of course second issue is how to replace them properly, and there's two schools of thinking here:
1. recruit with few restrictions, if people don't do anything afterwards they get chucked
2. recruit only people who are known for their willingness to work and skills, but this will take time, luck and will not bring in a lot of people
Both approaches have their pros and cons.

If you actually do want to help and aren't just blowing hot air (I direct this to all reading, not any particular individual) either contact a dev team member with a list of the skills that you'd be willing to bring onboard, or wait until we inevitably post a recruitment drive for the dev team because being totally honest here the current situation is simply unsustainable.

Would any of the Devs would perhaps like to grab a mic and join me on 15min of Disco and perhaps explain the current situation, give some advice on what skills are the devteam looking for in particular right now and or give directions to some tutorials to learn all that shiz.

--------------
PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502
