As Loki said, your trade information is incomplete like your map is when you first start out. When you visit new bases, you discover the prices they buy things for and what commodities they sell.
I think most people who trade seriously get a program called FL Companion, which gives you more complete trade information as well as a breakdown of credits per unit per second for routes. I had no idea where to begin trading when I started playing and the program was suggested to me. It helped a lot.
Well, just caught up on replies and everyone has different ideas, one post noticed was a bit harsh on me but saying no more; and I am not DUMB. Also, you assume I am playing online - nope! And have no intention of.
Darkness is only the absence of light, ignorance is only the absence of knowledge.
Man...yall is all a bunch of Poopy Cack.....giving away what took me 5 years to learn...... This kinda post makes me wanna join the darkside and learn to nova torp like SpazzyDragon and cull the herd of Battleship owning dudes feeling big and important after a month of grinding. Na...not really... about the Poopy Cack moment...Ill probably have no choice but to join the Darkside...(Read with HUMOR)

Start at Manhattan, take Liberty Ale to New London via California then Magellan or Cortez and Manchester then sell, take Gin from New London to Planet Crete (Omicron Gamma) via Cambridge & Omega 5 jump hole and Omega 41 jump hole into Omicron Gamma. Then take artifacts back to Manhattan. Continue as you wish until money piles up!!!
Actually, the best way (if you're new to the server) is ask a friend for a loan for a good ship, then do X (when either X is mining or trading), which should based on your personal preference. If you don't have any friends - make friends.
If anyone has ever analytically determined the fastest way to make credits, the results are not known to me.

so much better
agreed, but my route is shorter and it makes big money at each stop. Mhattan buy, London sell/buy - berlin/sell/buy - Manhattan sell - your way profit is only 2 bases.

Ah I see a bit of confoosion here, I am not talking about online, I never play this online.
The best start up is mining in Penny, given you know hours during which JohnyWalker is active. Why? He's mining for newbies - and giving A LOT of tips.
When he's not online, it is a pretty rare but not uncommon practice to see e.g. IC ID players shipping Helium with 5kers and paying around 1-2 millions per filling up.
BUT, once you get FL ID and Serenity, you earn circa 15 millions on common commodities per run, knowing where from and where to. Even more, if you know specific routes.

Singleplayer is not for playing, it is for testing things out, that's why you have CASH 100000000, SHOW, REP = 1 commands. The saves are eridicated nonetheless, since mod is not a singleplayer mod anyway.

+1 good strategy yis :|
escorting is also nice to do. just pure scouting.
You wont be stuck in one place, you will explore and learn trade route, you will get some cash, you will interact with others.

It is, I play it offline, have never played it online. Discovery 4.87 overwrites basic Freelancer install and runs offline. I also (had) loads of saves but lost game on pc as it refused to run in win 10, but I have full mod running on my laptop still, and on win 10. Weird.
