I think people refer to the problem of being lonely in the game, because we aren't EVE Online with thousands of players (ofc, online in the very same time). Now to think about it, I wonder what's maximal capability of Freelancer in term of players.

As for traders, that's also the quite problematic thing, since pirates needs to have at least four different pirate vessels to not to be bored. But then again, since people have a very limited time, they will have a choice to either 1) create one character with awesome backstory or 2) create dozen of generic characters with shallow background story consisting of one-two paragraphs each.

There's also problem with having a nameless generic traders, because we aim for a way different character - but then, without any other mean to earn money, I found myself spending 90% percent on my trader in order to get these 10% of my characters' roleplay. There are of course Bounty Boards, but they do not bring much money either, compared to trading.

Okay. I see a good point in faction/system ratio. And I agree that we can hardly squeeze everyone in... So yes this now looks more like a fork or sideproject.

max was like 225 at one point. I remember when there was 200/200 players and when you died it was a big deal becasue you had to wait 4 hours and log off and in that time another person would take your place Big Grin
Good times.

But no... it wouldn't be "discovery" freelancer anymore. It would be "Canned Sardine" Freelancer.
