' Wrote:Um guys..... Discordianism is not meant to be a "real" religion. It's a parody on real religions, along the same lines as Flying Spaghetti Monster and whatnot. Although some would say, "ha ha only serious":P
To me, Discordianism straddles the line between a real religion and a parody religion. Unlike things like the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Discordianism's main book does contain some real philosophy worth considering, if you can sift it out of the humorous parts.
@ Orin
I understand and respect your views as well. I don't know your reasons, but I'll respect them, and not inquire further.
if you are in kusari try to watch some dealers on planets, if you look good, you see lots of Buddha's
so the kusari religion will be buddhism or something that looks like that,
I guess the Nomads are the only current faction that seem to revolve around the sole purpose of their religion. So I guess this one is relevent, but I can't see any religion other than that weird mind reading guys religion on SP (which may be linked to Nomads) that may be relevent enough to actually be noticed.

However I believe that if one of the main lawful factions; namely Liberty or Bretonia; try and formulate a religion i can bet that the rest of the sirius factions may fall in line. *Hint *Hint

It acutally make some sense. Atleast the general idea. Chaos is an intrigual part of reality. So I would take it as part of the natual laws of things. As for using as a religion. Well meh. Some one may have thought it was a great idea but it's more of a joke.
As for religion in FL. I would expect that folks would be using the ones that they brought with them from Earth. We would have a smattering of the different sects of christianity, muslims, jewish, heck even scientology most likely. I think all of those would have evolved to survive in the new era, but I think most would still be going strong. Ofcourse I would finally hope that the scientologist would have realized that their founder was a science fiction writer....yes fiction. as in fake.

On another note, religion is a sparse, for money, power, control, and even war. Now i believe in an afterlife, and a god, BUT i do not believe in religion. If you really think about it, almost all wars were caused by "religion". So the leaders of these groups who know it's not real, make the people who think it's real do there bidding....
The only religious group i know of (or semi religious anyway) are the Outcast. EDIT: in freelancer. And for the love of god, is the server gonna be down for like 3 days?
With the west i don't mean the US alone, i also mean western europe, so i am sorry if i offended some US players, but i thought western world was the best name for both North America (not only US, canada aswell) and the nations in western europe

That means that BOTH of these topics somehow are related. MANY religious believings were at the origin of MANY Scientific researches.
(Is the Earth round or not? is proably the most well known example.)
Several people also need guidance. Believing in a greater power maybe gives them a reason to live, to hold on if they're dying because of a sickness.
It's not because SOME people today THINKS that religion is BullS*** that THEIR believings will be the same in the future!
EDIT: I also just remembered. WESTERN means EU, USA, Canada, Mexico, and South America. So I don't see why you tried to compare USA as the Complete Western World.
Actually, outcasts do not 'worship' nomads, a mutual 'respect' is about as far as they go. Outcasts in my opinion are predominatly Catholic with a few *cough* athiests in the mix.....
