Tazuras is correct that the scale is a bit out, if you look at the transport's windows they're quite tiny, the ones on this would be ginormous, and also it would be several storeys, as one with a giant ceiling would be very innefficient

But then on the other hand, Eyvind is correct, it would look a bit ugly if scaled properly. But at the end of the day, we're playing an RP mod, which tries to stay close to Vanilla styling, and this isn't so much.

Though I do like it in badly scaled form.

This would be a nice addition to the mod. We should have more types of these pods, just for RP. I wonder if you can give them some actual use...

Regarding the oversized windows: Just take a look at some of the buildings. Office buildings and some other luxury buildings sometimes have multi stories windows.. and, since in essence, it would be transporting VIPs as well as regular passengers, it wouldn't be much of an issue. Besides, I head that the regular airliners are gonna get something like this: switchable containers, that just get mounted on an airframe (is that a correct word?), which may contain passengers or cargo. Increases the efficiency of loading.

Oh wow, this thread took off! I'm in full agreement about the scale issue. As it sits currently, it only looks like it can hold maybe a hundred passengers. Also, I'm just building this guy freehand with no current cargo pod as a reference. Just for the sake of getting this to a state where everybody could be happy with it. In regard to Life Support, I was going for a self contained system on the pod, hence the vents and scoops on the aft end of the model. Already the model is fairly stubby, so expanding on the Life Support section should be pretty simple.

As far as the billboards go, I leave that to the various sig artists out there. I figure there are 5 houses, so 5 variants are needed and each could get a board advertising their local ship manufacturing company. Unless anybody has an idea to link a rolling sig into a texture, then each pod could have several advertisements on a rotation and the beginning of TV in space. Imagine being able to link say a very short xfire or fraps video to said billboard.:DI won't waste any more time on speculation there.

Also, if anybody happens to already have a cargo pod in any format Metasequoia supports, could I "borrow" it? My milkshape trial has expired and not to mention I'm having massive import/export complications...

Actually, that would look nice as the ship itself, if it weren't so flat on top.

A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.

Thanks again for all the input thus far, as far as the windows go, there was a kind of even debate between whether they should be scaled down or not. So I scaled them down without really changing the overall design. I am at a loss on how to make the back end look more like it performs life support aside from just adding vents.

All pics have been added to the first post.

EDIT: Disregard my original post, but this thing would not look good on a vanilla transport. Why? Because that big thing on the top would end up mashing with the model and making a mess, same with the billboard most likely.

EDIT2: Oh, and could it have a little less blue? Maybe give it a texture that similar to the vanilla transports as apposed to the current Liberty one?

Yeah, sure thing. I finally got it scaled down appropriately now, and just got it sitting next to a ship I built in the past textured IN Civilian Transport colors and I must say Ewww! It's a terrible contrast all the way to the point of eyesore. I'll get on it right away. I got a few ideas to meddle around with and I'll post some variety shots next time up.

Thanks for the advice, I have a direction to go with now. Please, any more ideas out there?

Even if it may not look good with the vanilla transports, keep at it, because new transports can be made to fit those things onto themselves.

Might I suggest basing the window heights off the front section of the Luxury Liner?

In addition - I say produce an unadvertised model - then let each faction pay you 100 million credits to put there signature on it!

Every credit would be well deserved!
