Depends on where you watch TV. Watch TV in the UK - there are no harsh/swear words/nudity before 8pm I think, where as down under, you get to watch Sex and the City at 12 noon and if you switch on the radio, there are sex adverts.....

BTW, Australia is officially the coolest place for Radio - Anything goes !

To be honest, I don't get the whole fuzz about the sexy signatures or cursing in roleplay threads ect. Even though there's 12 year old's on the server. What do you think they see on TV? Happy bunnies bouncing around? There's more sex in a music video clip than there is on a soft porn website these days, and more swearing in some movies and series than on the '10 words that you don't say on the radio' list. If they're gonna 'pick it up', itt'l probaply be on the streets, in the schools or on the television.

As for swearing etc, I kinda agree that it's not really nessisary. While I do wish some people would get thicker skins when it comes to inRP insulting. Only reaction it should be prompting is your character's.

I was just comparing UK TV with Oz tv... It's much mellowed down in UK, the TV standards board/Ad board is quite strict on the programming.
Top gear for example - The max they can get away with is Bollocks and probably James fav - Cock ! and that's just because it's an Animal....

In one of the ads you can clear see the girl removing her *Ahem* down... and someone taking a photo..

The Radio is worse with ads - I believe one was - For improving 'performance' during 'interaction'.....
yeah right.. wants me to buy their merchandise at 08:00 in the morning while I'm driving !

Hmm. I dunno, I don't really have a problem with violent and sexy images overall, but that is just me. I agree that we have to set certain standards for the forums though. But then again, as Exile says, you see worse on tv and in newspapers etc. Or even just a standard google search.

Two things.


1) The game itself is rated teen, so it's not exactly our fault if a 12 year old is playing here.

2) If it's outright porn, it's not allowed here for obvious reasons. Scantily clad women don't qualify as porn, and it's not exactly like you can't see much of that anywhere else...

I honestly think people need to learn to loosen up. From a very young age we're taught that sex is wrong and dirty, but violence is a necessity to keep the peace (and from what I've seen in my very short 15 years on this earth, oil). I was using the F word in the company of friends as young as 9 or 10 or so, and I don't see me being labeled as "Ignorant" or "Unrefined". What matters is not the word, but rather the context it's used in.
ie; Calling somebody an "Ignorant F" is a lot different than saying "I don't give an F" or, god forbid "F me!".

Besides, Freelancer has an ESRB rating of T, right? Therefor we must assume that everyone playing the game is that age or something very near to it, not to mention the difficulty of finding this forum in the first place and installing the mod (FLMM hates me, I don't know about the rest of you.)

I know my opinion probably won't be very popular here, but that's just my two cents.
