that ll most probably not happen - the path goes towards heavy bombers. ... of barghest style. - of course, everyone wants to have a BD like ship capable of firing supernovas - but that d be ... cheap.
the model itself looks good. - but courtesy demands that one has a word with the creator of the current praetorian before attempting to replace it ( unless the creator cannot be contacted ) .... - but i am fairly sure that AoM is still around.
Yeah, the corsair ships are heavy, the gladiator is a heavy heavy fighter, the decurion is a heavy light fighter....... no, in all seriousness, the praetorian fits perfectly into the corsair ship-line as it is. It is one of the best anti-cap bombers around (i have taken down a corsair cruiser, with only another titan helping me), it does not imo need any change to stats or model, just that because it doesnt have the handling of other bombers (BHG bomber, Falcata etc), it takes some getting used to.
Also, if it ever was to be changed, i think that this model doesnt look at all very corsair-ish, as for a start, all corsair ships are built with references to them having horns (the wings), if you take a close look at every corsair ship, from the legionaire to the legate, they all have charachteristic wings. Imo, altering this would make it stick out terribly, and this would do just that.
Yet I agree with seamus here the Corsairs learn too Adapt and evolve yet we keep having heavy ships made for us.
In Roleplay the Corsairs would realise that the Current praetorian lacks the agility to manouver out of the way of Snacs and other things or else the ship itself will be made redundant.
so my request still stands for an agile yet competetive bomber.
No.
In roleplay, the Corsairs would realise that the Current Praetorian outperforms the Liberty Upholder and the Kusari bomber. The Praetorian is also slightly superior to the Bretonian Challenger because they both have the same plant. The only house bomber that can fight Praetorians on equal terms is the Rheinland snubnose Bomber (not the Fafnir). In roleplay, therefore, the Corsair engineers would focus on fixing even more armour on to the beast without sacrificing manoeverability. Not focus on making it more manoeverable at the expense of everything else.
I like the comparison of the Bounty Hunter bomber. I don't know about you, but those bombers are one of the easiest to hit with an SN. That means that it is at a severe disadvantage in bomber-bomber combat. Whether this is meant to happen inRP is debatable, but it does happen.
Well, meh, I don't even fly a Praetorian anymore.
Tips on how to bulk out the new bomber concept of yours, Nighthawk. Look at the wings on the Titan. You see that they thicken out as they reach the fuselage. I think you could apply that to this design too.
Im not in support of this model replacing the Praetorian, but it will probably be a good exercise to see what comes out.

if you don t ask, its somewhat bad manners.
Noted, but I figured nothing I made would be able to replace the Praetorian. It'd be like taking the Lunchbox away from the Corsairs... It's iconic. Judging from the responses people don't want it replaced either, so no harm done? If AoM feels cheated by my attempt at a Praetorian design then of course I'll apologise... I don't mean anything bad by it.
Also, I'd like to remind everyone that bombers are designed for anti capital combat, not anti bomber combat. Heavy bombers tend to be better against large capital ships because they can dodge just as well while dishing out more pain. So yes, the Praetorian would be superior to the light bombers like Kusari, Outcast and Bounty Hunter bombers. When you start balancing your bombers against your opponents bombers then something is clearly wrong...
Also Monte, I've been flying my praetorian every day for over a year now, I think i am "Used Too" it allready.
Mcneo. How inRP can you compare them too the Liberty Bombers? in RP the Corsairs would'nt even know what their bombers looked like due too their ZOI, Also Who're you too dictate the RP of a Generic Freelancer Faction? They Adapt and Evolve, That's all too be said, Therefore making your essay you have written Redundant.

What about someone creates corsairs lighter bomber ... i think Praetorian is slow for bomber ... and one heavier will make corsairs good for target practice ... or i just don't have good sense:D
Or ... i have idea ... you know how gladiator looks ... transforming it to praetorian mk2 ... make it bulkier ...
Titan>Praetorian
Gladiator >Praetorian MK2
I think i will try make photo of what i mean ... it would be lighter then Praetorian ...
It will be fun to have on the top consoles forward firring turrets(it is one of the heaviest bomber in its class or no?and corsair ships are tanks in the end or no?) (amd for example rheinland bomber has one forward firring turret) but on the other side it will be too strong then.
"adding" to a faction that already has pretty much everything ( including these heavy fighters mk2 ) is hard... especially when none of the models actually lacks quality. - so even high quality models like these won t do it. adding another bomber will not happen ( thats not a decision, but its just a pretty certain feeling about it ).
if the corsairs were a trading faction, one could always add a bomber that they "export" - with slightly worse stats than "their own" ( like the zoners keep the juggernaut for themselves, but are more willing to share the aquillon carrier )
now, corsairs are a rather solitude faction. - they don t even heavily share with their allies much ( not that their allies expect or need anything from them anyway )
to convert the model into something else to replace a more generic ship doesn t appear to work either, cause all its features are very corsairish. - shame, really - i do like it much.... but yes, i do like the praetorian more ( but thats probably mostly due to being used to it and cause the praetorian is textured and has a more "solid" look )
