Sindroms, please just stop forcing all the people that chose to pirate to go along with you view of how pirates should act. I'm getting sick of you shoving your brand name down everyone's throat, and it's not even directed at me. Yes, there are daily raids in NY. If you don't like it, go play on another character in another area of Sirius, or wait till the pirates get bored and leave, then organize a mini-event with the LN online or something. Just please don't come to the forums and get all uppity about it.
' Wrote:It's definitely the player not the ID system. However, I wish the pirate ID wasn't so friendly with all of the pirate factions - they're competition, and why would they support their competition? Why would the Outcasts practically give out their Tridentes to random pirates in liberty? Same for Rogue gunboats, lane hacker gunships and bombers, etc. I'd expect the pirates to have at best civilian or borderworld equipment, as most of them won't have the connections or proper diplomacy to access factionised equipment. Unlawful factions should be white to the pirate id, so that all these tridentes actually require a proper posted reason why/how they were acquired.
Oddd, I was playing around on my Rogue more then usual last week, I met two dozen outcasts and 2 of them flew anything but a Tridente.
Its just sad.

Right now, I have just about enough voice freedom to voice my opinion on what kind of example roleplayers set for newcommers, a gang of 9 OC gunships rolling around in NY and engaging random lawfuls is NOT what it should look like, agree with me there.
Maybe I am a perfectionist but I do my job, I do it as I was told to do it and if making a reminder thread once and a while, quoting genuine material from discovery Wiki to show a major pvp flaw in an ID makes me a bad person, then Yes.
EDIT: If I get 12 PMs from indies and factions alike, when on my Rogue to tell some idiots in NY to stop shooting liberators in dual missile bunboats, I think there is something wrong here, no?

this. Especially for the pirates with a cause. It just means the money that could have gone to them is going to some other mope.
@ Sindroms: Why do you want to limit a pirate's role play even further than it already is? Read through the rules, infocards and such ... you'll fine this class of character has far more rules on them than any other group. I do agree that pirates (within role play) would avoid military vessels and such ... but you don't need to make a rule about it. Attacking lawfuls in for self-defense only? That's a bit much. Don't see anyone advocating that trader ID's (generic or otherwise) should be limited to firing on a pirate only in self-defense. But a rule like this WOULD prevent these traders from trying to engage in combat with pirates. I experienced a couple lulwhut-PVP-centric traders in Tau 31 once ... both in CT's and sporting Corsair Tizona and Outcast Wyrm turrets ... the CT can mount 12 turrets by the way. My pirate was attacked by these traders before I uttered a word or even initiated any attempt at piracy. Explain this one to me will ya? And how about the trader who initiated an attack on my pirate who was SEVERAL kilometers from any trade lane or planet (but within radar range) ... minding my own business ... and he take it upon himself to initiate an attack. This guy got a sanction for OORP by the way. But would be nice if you anti-pirate types would take the plank out of your own eyes before trying to pluck the speck out of ours.
You know....When I still was an indie rogue, I was in a group of five people, two gunboats with three missile turrets, back in 84, two sabres and a falcata. We were rolling around in NY, disrupting random lanes and doing all the nasty stuff a bunch of low criminals would do.
But, then there was some LSF...something, from a faction, the group chat lit up with this:
''On the count of three, we all jump him, eff him up so bad he wont want to play the game anymore.''
Making NY a pirate heaven through out of RP by killing peoples will to play does not need to be restricted? Allright, i follow your train of throught.
6 People left, in the following few months, good people, good RPers, and I will tell you, Both from the lawful and unlawful sides. They simply deleted their character because they couldnt either take the bull that was given to them when 15 pirates attack manhattan every day, or to watch their wingmates gank a lone liberator.
Things are effed up, drama around, whining and such, Baltar, I specifically stated more rules will not make a better world, but if you see that there is something wrong here, help me find a better alternative then to restrict people even more, provide me with an alternate solution, I will gladly take it.
