Simple solution, as mentioned, decrease the size of everything else.

CMPs and SURs would need to be resized but it has been done before in mods and although timeconsuming, it is worth it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we make the ships and stations smaller, don't the hitboxes along with the weapons themselves have to be edited to be smaller? Interesting thoughts for more realism but again, Freelancer sacrifices many aspects of realism to give us arcade/simple style of space combat.

All models, weapons too, would have to be resized and the hitboxes, sur files, would have to be resized too.

@Linkus: That is an amount of work which is just insane. Better use the time of the DevTeam for more important stuff.

@Topic: increase the cruise speed up to 1000?

Yes yes Silverleaf, Travel times will have an Impact regardless of weather you say it wont or not.
Bear in mind that if you up Cruise speed then Cruise Disruptors need to be Faster than that, at those speeds they would be almost insta-hit missiles, and that affects alot of things.
Also, if your stood still anyone who is cruising flys past you at 3x the speed we fly now then thats 1050 speed at which I can fly past a stationary Cap ship in engine kill and drop SNAC's and Mines on him before he even knows in there. PROBABLY EVEN BEFORE HIS SCANNERS CAN REFRESH MY DISTANCE, I HAVE SHOT HIM.
How many SNAC's kills a Cap ship these days? Ill Bet a wing of 4 Warrans could pull that manouver with SNAC's and Nova's and Insta kill a Cruiser or maybe even some BattleCruisers. Spitting out thier "engaging" at 20k and be dropping thier ammo (remember those insta hit CD's that fly at 1500 speed? Well now you add on the Warrans Speed to make them 2550 speed) and kill him before he's even finished typing out a reply.
Its also debateable about how long you would last at 1050 cruise speed in the badlands and other dence asteroid fields where the autopilot is a little slow. Hell will the AutoPilot even avoid planets at that speed?

I always figured that the planets were far away.. as if you kept flying towards them, they'd get bigger, and bigger, and bigger. But because its freelancer, eventually you bounce and die.

Suns on the other hand..

Increasing the cruise speed to hight will also break the NPCs, they've been designed to operate within certain parameters, you change that and they get confused and start acting really funny.


Also have you ever been in any asteroid field at 1000 speed? I have and its borderline impossible to stay a course.

Then use THRUSTERS in the field.
Also, we need to reduce density of some fields so larger craft can go through. And I think with the size of those ships the rock should be bounced, not the ship... make them bounce less?
