Pirating is pirating when its used correctly and within rp and id or inventive following a standard, generally set by server rules and rp and ids.

Once again, to no surprise I had a corsair in a cruiser/destroyer class vessel in O41 shooting at me (pirate train with no cargo/smuggler id) saying I need to know my place and I am not allied so he can shoot me but will let me be on my way if I pay 2mill pirate tactic.

I told my self to stay out of omegas, but thought I give it a wirl and the first time I get in there pow, fail.

I would like to say this: DO NOT PIRATE IN DESTROYER CLASS OR ABOVE, its bad form, bad rp and just complete utter shame.

If you are going to pirate use a Gunboat, Gunship, Bomber, Fighter, Transport, Freighter, Liner. AND for the LOVE OF PETE dont have a CAPITOL CLASS DESTROYER or UP in your group while pirating. I am really getting sick and tired of it.

Thank you for reading. I really dont like filing reports. Please read the forums and lets have fun.

If you are taking something from someone ... its piracy.

If you are a lawful and encounter a smuggler ... if you take his stuff its piracy ... alternative to this is to order him to turn his ship around and go back to where he came from.

Sorry ... you're taking profit from them just as a "pirate" takes profit from a trader.

Keep in mind that what's "lawful" and "unlawful" is dependent on which side of the fence you're on. What's "lawful" goods in Liberty is "unlawful" contraband in Kusari.

Example: I ran into a Kusari Navy chap once while I was hauling Engine Components to from Kusari to Gran Canaria. Was stopped in Kyushu and ordered to drop them due to export restrictions on those components. <-- Good role play by the way ... but my character was a Zoner moving goods between Kusari and Zoner planets/bases. Nothing was going to the Bretonians. So ... is this piracy or not?

One question: How can they tell you're telling the truth and not trying to sneak past them to get to Bretonia? I've had people try that with my BAF before, so I just crack down on everyone taking goods past planet Leeds in the kusari direction. The KNF guy probably had the same experience as I did, and so won't trust anyone.

The KNF have a system for that, buy a license and you won't ever have to drop them again.

No, you misunderstand. I would say that this is a game based around Roleplaying, and so I will always Roleplay to the best of my abilities. Since Roleplaying is getting yourself into a role, I get myself into the role of police commissioner as best I can. As police commissioner, I think the following:

In order to prevent crime, we not only have to prevent the crime but also make a consequence for it. Because of said consequence, people will avoid this consequence and thus avoid the crime. Either that, or they will take added measures to the point where I don't know about the crime, meaning it will be between criminal organizations and off the streets of Bretonia.

It would be easier to prevent a crime before it is committed through consequences than to stop a crime while it is actually being committed.

Also, Andre, please look at my money on my BPA characters.

My SRD doesn't even have enough for mines and countermeasures. I make tons, don't I? Almost as much as trading. Only something like 25 million credits per hour less. Really profitable, huh? I definitely make tons of imaginary pixels Roleplaying like I do.

Gotta agree to a point bacon, but a compremise should be made IMO. If your RP is causing great annoyance, and the other player is not gaining anything from the encounter, then a bit too much perhaps. Though this would depend greatly on the other person I suppose, as for example, a trade who is only after profit will get different things out of an encounter than say, one who's main aim is RP and profit is just a perk.

On a side note, the one thing that I find really quite insulting is police being <strike>called</strike> branded pirates.
If you need to pay a finecense, simply because your breaking the law, it's your own fault.

*remembers a "BPA)Pirate" being created by a trader who was, shock horror(!) asked to pay a license fee*

As opg I pirate everything that moves, and if it doesnt I push it to move.

Its robbing, not taxing cargo haulers. I dont care if I rob a salesman or a simple man walking hoem from a bar. It can ve even a police officer (in game of course:D)

The thing with cops is that if you use a bit of imagination, you can make so you dont get caught while smuggling or blockade running.

It is known as Jump Holes without using lanes.

You find it too long and will still do your run on the lanes, dont complaint to me you got destroyed. Especially if you speeddocked on manhatten as soon as the police asked you to halt and that they fine you even more or destroy you when you undock.

And about military blockades. These are made between houses at war to keep ppl from getting stuff from their house and bringing it to the ennemy or bringing tampered stuff from the ennemy. And before saying its annoying to the Navy guy enforcing it, I have to say its mostly because many people who blockade run are whinning like crazy when they get caught.

And yes, in RL the Navy can't check everywhere to see if someone passed the blockade. If you use lanes, dont complaint you get caught.

And no it should not be counted as piracy. Except for no cruiser or bigger rule.

Mate, there are many more instances of far, far crueler RP out there than taking a trader's money and cargo, asinine as it is, especially if you take money and cargo and are not, in fact, a cop, (hint hint nudge nudge, you arsehole pirates, pick one and choose). Why pick on pirate methodology when there are high-profile individual players who do far worse than that on a daily basis to burn? Remember, no matter how much money you lose, chances are the pirate still makes considerably less than you do as a trader, though the numbers are certainly evening out in this piss-poor economy. Xoria DID do one thing: Drive inflation down. Pirates will always ask for two million, but how much a trader makes is subject to the mod version.

You also have a problem. You have failed to realize that the trader/smuggler loses money when he avoids lanes and hides, and in this economy, losing money is really, really bad. Take that into account.

In short, everybody needs to stop complaining. Wait for the next version. Then you can complain and I can tell you to stop again. There are far more pertinent things to make noise about (such as the contrail effects on my Sabre! SO gaudy! I hate them).
