The truth is that game mechanics completely prevent any option other than blowing up the slaver.

I've run into many, many slavers in my time and of those none, I repeat none, have ever taken the option of being arrested and delivered, along with their cargo, to the authorities. Funny that.

So, until something changes fundamentally in the mindset of the "slavers" on the server, there is nothing else to be done other than blow them up, and then get the dropped slaves tractored in by a transport.

So, while it may seem that those who blow up slavers are murderers as well, really that's just using limitations in the game mechanics to your own advantage (or the advantage of the slavers anyway). Does that fall under the umbrella of metagaming? I don't know, but it's not far off.

You see, in RP, I'd aim for the damned engines to disable the slaver ship so that we can call in multiple transports to ferry people to the nearest station. However, game mechanics only allow so much. That's not to say that I haven't RP'd with a slaver (if they are capable of it, GMG will take them to Okinawa so they can unload at Isehara), I'm just saying that most will lol and thrust or cruise away or open fire leaving us no choice...

Here's some more food for the mind: What if we remove the slaves commodity altogether and substitute it with "robotic workers"? Personally, I've never liked to RP supporting slavery on my Outcasts characters.

Think of it this way; If they let the slaver go, he'll end up taking thousands more slaves to Malta. It's better to sacrifice the 5,000 slaves (saving them from a hard and painful life on Malta at the same time) in order to protect 50,000 more.


And lets not flame CR any more than we already have. Yes, they do questionable things some times, but they try.

Slaves are an investment, robots aren't. A Two slaves can turn out to be a family of slaves. Children born into slavery are basically free labor, and are taught to be submissive from birth, making them easier to control. A slave who has been a slave their entire life is a much more valuable slave than one brought in from Liberty's prisons. Also, female slaves are often times raped (talking about history here) by their owners in order to get more slaves. Free ones. Also, once the female slave has a child that the owner can control, that female slave becomes much easier to control as well, through threats against the child or threats to separate the child and mother.

It's an immoral practice, but it works. Besides, robots don't have the dexterity for plantation work on Malta.

//when i was on the RM i destroyed a slaver with slaves on board. Than i got a rescue party to pick them all up and transport them to near base or station. This was made with the help of a nearby zoner, and some civilian transports.
So, when a slaver is destroyed there are many RP opportunities to do something interresting than just let the slaves float in space

That's the bottom line.

Even putting a bounty on them is just pushing the situation one further. Bounties are collected the same way as stopping this slaver.


BUT one RP way to deal with this is to blow up the slaver and CALL the next station to send a ship to evacuate the floating slaves. I assume they are inside some kind of container since being outside of space is not harmful to them.
