I had not had played an RP game before ever.....but I once acted in a movie with a retread 80 child film star, so the RP stuff didnt faze me out to much....Its all the RULES to remember....The Tech with the Ship and the Ship with the ID....so...I havent been here a year yet and still dont know all the specific histories so Im still a newbie and will be for some time....

I remember seeing someone Pirating a trader out near Kansas...and as I flew by in my Dromedary (should have kept my mouth shut) said..."hey you cant pirate, you are a Freelancer"
to which the Person said..."Why dont you go ahead and scan me Bigboy"...so I turned back around and i did....and there is the big ole Pirate ID...."wow" I thought..."Im in trouble now"..... a few minutes later...ship is in flames, cargo lost and me in an exection pod.....

I came straight from SP so I understood a lot of what was going on. The only thing that I had to get used to was the comms and the server commands. So yeah, I had prior RP experiences and it only took me a couple of hours to figure stuff out.

Around one week, I believe. After that I first started accepting the RP nature of the server, and later I actually began to like it, once I understood it properly.

I would say I was a "newbie" for about a month before I got used to the server.

I used to roleplay on Halo CE RP servers - quite fun at the time.

I walked onto the server with two (very poorly) stories already written (it took forever to get my game installed and the mod attached properly and get my router established). I'd even started modeling as I was first playing the game (bad idea. XD). It was a lot of fun back then - there were only about 100ish people regularly playing the game, so we all knew each other and most of us were friends (even the Outcasts and the BSG, for a little bit XD). RP wasn't as strict either - I had a Large Train trader character that was just named 'Epyon the Bored' but my Sabre character was always Willow, and that train very quickly developed into a grumpy old man who didn't want Corsairs to get his flanksteaks.

Few weeks I'm sure, I'm still not familiar with ALL the factions but I'm getting there and having a few different chars has brought me in contact with lots of others, with that its been trial and error but mostly good results. (One pirate who I wrongly killed was Agmen so yea, I went back and learned real quickly)

What, a newbie? Never. I was an epic roleplayer right from the get-go. Yep, my Zoner IDed Wyrm with Tizonas and Salamanders was totally legit.

That gave me an idea for something... an execution pod! It's like an ejection pod, but with a few large holes.

I'm not making fun of you, I seriously think that's an amusing idea. Covert assassination - looks like a mechanical defect!

On-topic...

I came here knowing it was an RP server, with experience in that kind of environment and with an attitude of "stay relatively quiet and learn", so my newbie time was pretty short. It helps that I sat down and read the rules, and waited to start until I was in a faction that could teach me - though that was more because of my inexperience with the setting; I hadn't cleared the vanilla single-player campaign until very recently.
