Nevertheless the UK did go to Iraq with us, as did Japan, Australia, Canada, and a slew of other countries. And lets not forget World War II. Germany never attacked us, regardless, we went to Europe to help defend France, Poland, and Great Britain. It wasnt until after we did that Nazi U-Boats began raiding our shores. Granted we saw a global threat in the Axis powers before Japan ever attacked us. Technically in the begining our only war was with Japan.

The US went to Vietnam and Korea to keep communism out of those countries, not because it was invading our shores. Not our place or our business, but that is another issue. The point is that allegances can mean aiding your allies in their homelands.

Im gonna agree with Korrd on this one, an alliance is whatever you make it.

I am sorry but I feel compelled to point out that Canada has no direct involvement in Iraq. If we did our primeimister would have had his head shoved on a pike. Right about the time the Iraq war started 70% of Canadians wanted to pull our troops out of Afghanistan. We can't leave now because we are the only ones holding the forth there now since most everybody else went to Iraq.

So to bring this thread back on course I am going to agree that not all alliances are willing.

Again, in the eyes of "The Decider", Iraq and Afghanistan are one in the same. But he's an idiot. I knew Canada was involved in some bs that we dragged em into.

Well, I'm not going to get into how Afghanistan and Iraq are very, very different too much... but I feel drawn to this...

Just because they are in proximity, sort of, doesn't mean the reasoning was the same. Because it wasn't. They are both very different kettles of fish.

eww stop talking about politics.

freelancer is NOT real life.

IMO The LSF can go to tau 31, as long as they have a very goooood RP reason to, and they write a story about it, and role play it exceptionally well.

seeing as this is not the case, they should stick to the liberty systems.

The point I was trying to make.

However, I didn't want to single them out, because others do it too. They're making a mistake unknowingly, which is fair enough.

Time to lay off the politics please ... If the LSF are trying to protect their own tagged traders in SOMEONE elses
space, they would need a damn good reason to have armed ships there. They are the LIBERTY Security Force.
Personally I will be bleedin' glad when the shoddy trading route vanishes off the face of Sirius, its caused more
trouble than any other single situation that I can remember.
Basically if tagged traders wish to trade outside of their areas, best hire the local militia to do the protecting ...
Autonomous policing of Sirius by ANY FACTION is not my favourite type of roleplay scenario, especially as it
always appears when the action filled systems get busier ... See where I'm going with this ?

You can always do luxury food to Manhattan, and passengers to Cambridge. Doesn't make as much, but it's less horrible. Plus, you can defend your traders along a large chunk of the route.

The SF should be able to guard the rest, otherwise, I guess there are mercenaries about that you could hire.

EDIT: However, I think that Tau-31 could be okay. Not all large profits are made from long-distance transportation, or did you think that the local postman's job didn't make a fair whack of money for his organisation?

sniper, look at it this way. tau 31 is a conflict zone for the bretonian armed forces and the kusari naval forces. the trade run is what i call an exploit. its not more than 20 secs from the planet to the mcduff. why would any liberty ship be present in a conflict zone, to protect traders in a conflict zone?
trust me there are much better routes than that. and getting pirated and running from pirates is part of the roleplay, this is what mercs are for as well. having a merc just flying about doing nothing is quite dull, seeing that traders prefer to either run or die by a pirate so they wont have to pay for 24 hours.
im not picking on you sniper, its just the fact, that liberty ships in tau 31 isnt really right, or for the fact, liberty ships anywhere apart from liberty, or bretonian ships anywhere apart from bretonia, etc. unless the house militaries have a deal (like the SA and SF have made a deal, allowing a strike force of SA in leeds). in the end evertything falls down to roleplaying.
