Useful in having Order ID are nomad blasters and whole order weaponry. Whatever scientist or not, Omicrons are dangerous systems and we need to protect ourselves. On something bigger like democritius yacht we use basic civie turrets.
' Wrote:Lawful researchers are a lot more independent than "unlawful" researchers would be, given that the only reason they'd be unlawful is if they were affiliated with a faction - in which case the actual unlawful ID would be a better fit.
I thought I tried to explain why there aren't unlawful researchers.
* Can only trade in artifacts, alien organisms, Gaian wildlife, counterfeit software, cardamine, quantum multiplexors, bio-neural processors, nano-capacitors, scientists and nomad remains
* Cannot fulfill bounty contracts
* Cannot escort anyone
* Cannot ally with anyone
* Cannot attack anyone at all except in self defense * Cannot land on any <strike>un</strike>lawful bases except for <strike>Junker</strike>Orbital Spa and Cruise or <strike>Order</strike> Freelancer bases
* A Researcher using the Kusari Explorer cannot use any gunboat weapons, but may use level 5 turrets (or less).
Allowed ships: Freighters, Transports, Liners, Kusari Explorer (without gunboat weapons)
Carrying unmounted IDs in your ship, as well as not equipping an ID, is a serious crime. The Researcher ID does not make you immune to piracy or being fined by lawfuls. Pirates and lawfuls may choose at their discretion whether to exempt you.
More flames. More name-calling and insults. More locks if it happens again.
Consider this a warning. People that persist in treating these forums as a convenient place to dump on others face having their posting rights removed.

My thought exactly, you can RP a researcher with much much more flexibility and freedom with almost every faction ID, than you can with the Researcher ID. Useless ID.

Offending posts invisibled.
Wow, a flame thread that didnt just get flooded, wewt!
As for the subject, I RP a Zoner researcher but use the appropiate zoner ID for the ships involved (Zoner or Zoner Guard).
HOWEVER, it would be nice to be able to have something more appropiate to show that it is a researcher, becasue while I RP it, I (a lot) have folks see a Zoner cap and go 'ololol another zoner cap' essently.
It's no doubt magnified tenfold for unlawful researchers, and the ID would at least SOMEWHAT minimize their problems (tho theyd have quite a few go based off of their IFF).
Personaly, I think that it needs to be heavily re-worked (the ID).
If you have no IFF or FL IFF, you go off of the rules of the ID.
If you are playing it as part of a NPC faction, you must have the propper IFF and go off of that factions ID/guardID for your ID rules. if you ahve a cap with it, you must have the guard IFF or the rep to get the guard IFF.
Personaly, I think that another thread I read a while back suggesting having a secondary ID slot would be a good solution for this. Have factional IDs, fleet commander IDs, etc etc, stuff showing you indeed DO have the authority to order someone to do something be one of the secondary IDs. Researcher ID could also be used in that slot as well.
Heh, ya remove our posts put leave the OPs post where he flames others? Classic.
Prysin, your arguement is pathetic. You are basing your RP off the ID and not your character. Why do you need a specific ID to RP your character? You can RP a researcher with any ID.
Researcher ID is for unaffliated peoples. If you want to be an Outcast researcher, then you are wanting an affliation; therefore use their ID.
You wouldn't be an independant researcher working for the Outcasts, as you'd likely be forced to work for them; being that great minds are valuable prizes.
