His comments to King include that he was owed 1,000,000 credits in a boron deal. Seeing as a Clydesdale only has 150 or so cargo, there's no way that was what he was hauling it in. Therefore the only reasonable assumption is that he was flying a -transport- class vessel of some sort. Whether it be a Large Transport, Train or whatever, this shows that a Freelancer would clearly fly a transport and trade if the money was right.

And seeing as Freelancers can't openly join unlawful forces or take place in military operations, trading is something they seriously need. Besides, trading could really shock the commonly mistaken mercenary similarities they have.

In short. Trading + Freelancers = Yus.

EDIT: Hey, my little speech turned the poll from 30 'yes', 31 'no', to 35 'yes', 31 'no', on whether or not Freelancers should be able to fly trasports. Mission accomplished, aye?

So you want two IDs that are essentially almost exactly the same thing?

As the record stands, all that differenciates Freelancers from Mercs is a Freelancer's ability to fly transports. And them doing so makes perfect sense, as I proved above.

Sure, Freelancers can't openly join unlawful factions, but that is such an odd difference between Mercs. Mainly because Freelancers don't openly join any factions. Lawful or otherwise.

A Freelancer may do a job for the Hackers, then jump to Bretonia and fly escort for a Bowex convoy. That's fine, but Mercs can do that too. Now a Freelancer could buy a Train and fly a Diamond shipment from Rheinland to Kusari. Mercs can't do that, and that's good.

There is no reason why we need two IDs that are almost exactly the same. They're close enough as it is. Taking away transports is a horrible idea...
