I see no issue with this either, assuming the pirating means pirating with RP. The guys life and ship are at stake. "Drop your bots and bats" or "100k exploration tax" or even "Drop the (RP) cargo now captain" is all within the realms of reasonable in my book.
Yes, I am aware my book differs a fair bit from a lot of you.
Problem is, you cannot drop the fuel, food, crew or anything else needed to fly a ship. That's what RP cargo is. So in actual fact it's a reason to pew pew. Besides the exploration tax, I actually like that one.

And what if the attackers show you the courtesy of not being idiots when you attack? Lets face it, your just hiding behind 'true to life tactics' in a "Computer game" If a faction hits you with 5 fighters, dont go firing out 5 battleships to take them on. Thats just lame. It shows that said faction is really sore loosers, or even scared.

Its not that bad in my opinion either, but it suggestes that people are just looking for pretexts to blow people up.
Its the camping of an enemy base with 3 or 4 ships that I see as the problem, and a perfect justification that IMG should use force to end that.

Oh... I think you may be talking about another incident which I did not witness. I was talking about the Corsair spatial. I think you are talking about the thing where there were 4 voidrunners blowing up IMG near Hood? And then the IMG brought a solaris battleship`? I read about that on the forum.
Well, I think that was also valid, especially since there pretty much isnt any ship in the mod that can kill a voidrunner, except a solaris battleship.
This is the ONLY game I have EVER played where people seem to consider "ganking" invalid and unfair.
I have played a lot of other games and many other RP servers and 1 example I'll use was from SA-MP on an RP server.
Two guys robbed a bank and a single cop just happened to be outside. Started off an unfair fight towards the cops but when the backup twenty odd officers turned up to help at no point did the criminals start shouting "UNFAIR! THERES MORE OF THEM THAN US!" Overwhelming numbers has always, and always will be, a valid tactic. Either in real life or games.
It comes down to the fact that if your not smart enough to atleast attempt an escape when its clear the odds are against you then your the one whos probably being an "idiot", not the other side using "unfair tactics".

people aint attacking your area as a personal dig (well not all some do cause they are even bigger douches) they are coming for some fun, again this is a game based primarily around PVP - Your RP? im sorry you can do as much of it as you like but in the end this server boils down to PVP - This GAME boils down to PVP. Ganking is a pheasible tactic if you wanna win at all costs.... but it does not make it a nice tactic, you attack an opponent with all your might and more people if your in a real war folks, this isnt real. Play fair for christ sake and we will all get along alot better. You never know... you might actually learn to play the game bloody properly instead of hiding behind the biggest ship, or the larger group.

I have reflected on this matter using my huge cerebrum, and I have come to the following conclusions, quite some time ago:
People shout "ganking" here so much because:
1: An admin called JihadJoe made a larmoiant speech about it a while ago and it has been an "in" word ever since. Unfortuantely, he only ranted about numbers, and not about pros (such as himself) killing noobs in equal numbers. Ever since then, it is officially bad taste for noobs to compensate their lack in experience with numbers, leaving them ath the mercy of pros with no sense of fair play, while they use the words "gank" and "fair play" to be unfair towards people who are not in their league.
2: Some fool wrote into rule 0.0 that if you at any point are getting shot at by a ship slightly superior than yours or by more than one person, you have the right to complain
3: Some fool wrote into the faction guide lines that official factions should ballance fights. Now the pros who have each other on skype pimp fights for their friends and keep people from attacking their friends.
4: Shouting "gank" has become a solid tactic of "pros" while going on killing sprees against noobs, and thereby not getting shot by people who would actually have a chance against the pros, letting them be unchallanged, while also giving them something to complain or brag about. 3 wins for pros.
I can't remember the last time I fought equal numbers.
I like being ganked because I have to work my ass off to survive and take the other people out. This goes for other games too, not just Disco. I just like a challenge, whether I succeed or not.
If you don't want to be ganked, catch them away from their base and slaughter them. The more you kill, and the faster you kill them, the fewer you'll face at any one time.
