Considering that by the time of discovery all the languages would have definitely been changed beyond recognition... Unless some extreme language conservation programs were put into place.

But hold on discovery isn't about reality is it.

Though I would have nonetheless expected minority languages to have died out by this time.

If you wish to argue otherwise, sure. RP as you want to RP so long as you have significant RP basis, and in this case I suppose this ground is sufficiently reasonable. The question here of course being is how will people react to it? You'll only know when you actually test it out. This is the case with everything you want to try RPing is it not?
