Good game but needed a bit more of a workover...they never really added much to it.

P.S. woot post 200!

You fear oblivion. Yet you forget. The universe remembers every atom of your being. Even dust hums your name in the dark.
Roleplay is dead. Long live Powertraders and PvP I guess.

Staff roles:

As for "space trading", perhaps Star Wars Rebellion is the closest thing, although it is more of a RTS than a "trading sim".
The first "outer space" game I ever played was Zaxxon, on a TRS 80 Color Computer.
It doesn't get much more "old school" than that when it comes to computers.
Check out that link for the TRS 80. I had the 64k RAM model, no harddrive. You had an external 5.25 floppy drive, a plug in cartridge, or for Zaxxon, a cassette tape that you played over a cassette player that you plugged into the computer.
Those were the days...

Elite on the C=64. I crawled out of grades 9 and 10 with 52% averages because of that game. I wish Elite 2: Frontier had worked out, but it really didn't at all.

And yeah, I had Star Master and Star Raiders on the 2600 too:) Can't believe how many hours could be lost to such simple games back then.

The combat mechanics are obviously way different, but I think Pirates! and the Uncharted Waters series would appeal to old school trading game players as well.

X:Beyond the frontier here, as first space trading game. Then came X-Tension (sort of expansion to the first one.. but... completely different! strange thing they made, and with much success).

In fact, i still play X-Tension. I love the Teladi race there... "May the profitsss be with youuuu!!!"

Elite the very first one on the spectrum 48k home calculator, err i mean computer. Used to love listen to the tapes whistle and whine as it loaded the games from a cassette player. Does that make me a golden oldie?

I played Escape Velocity.

Then I moved on to Escape Velocity Nova, and played that for like 2 years before I got into Freelancer.
