While I can't say the rule will accomplish this--I believe I do understand the point..
It's the same reason they don't allow voting here in two parties primaries--they don't want you voting for your candidate at your primary and then going to the opposing party's primary and voting against their candidate too.
A lot of strife would be chopped off at the knee cap if some of the uber players didn't run dominant characters in multiple opposing factions.
I couldn't in good conscience play a powerful Junker then sit in on a secret war council with a Xeno or Hogosha chars (as an example) in his faction and say, "My other chars will pretend they didn't hear this"--it's not possible to be uninfluenced and its really hard to rp genuinely that way anyway.
Have multiple chars--sure. Different factions sure. Jut not movers and shakers on multiple mover and shaker clans.
I think that's main point of rule.
"I'm on the Zoner Council with a Zoner Destroyer, the Corsair Council with a Legate, the Outcast Council with an Outcast Destroyer, the Liberty Navy with a Liberty Cruiser...etc., etc."
Sadly, some people ARE doing this (and you know who you are)--some even post a lot.

Well All the normal information, including RP stories and diplomatic matters are all here on forum...So whatever char you use, You cannot do the inocent player
I do--I stay out of story lines that are spoilers. And it's a little differnt knowing a single char's motives as opposed to a clan's strategies and plans.

Some of us, Shigeo, like to stretch our boundaries, broaden our horizons. See what we can and can not roleplay, and then discover what we need to do to change cannots into cans.
How do we keep character knowledge and player knowledge seperate? Same way we always have, knowing what our character would/would not know and acting on that knowledge.
I understand where Akumabito and Shigeo Kitamura are coming from. I have multiple clan characters, but I'm still under the two system-owing factions rule.
Having said that, I would vote to scrap it.
The move to enforce it better or scrap it could be seen as enriching roleplay either way.
Scrapping it just means a user's more diluted over more factions. That's not good at all. Then you just have a bunch of diluted users all over the server.
Look, dude, whoever argues against this, I don't care that you have this character there and another character here or whatever, you can cash in your ships and devote time to two system owning factions. I'm tired of factions with only two-three truly dedicated members.
I have basically three or four characters, but really Akamabito is the primary character with a long term agenda and in depth development. The BH character is just an ID and ship level of rp and and the junker characters are there because of the [CSW] and to fly an unregistered OC Dessie.
I think a lot of people have multiple characters simply for PvP opportunities. Maybe all the actions in Kusari, log into the Kusari character. Next night it's in Liberty so you log into the Liberty character.
There is no doubt that if you have one character and X anount of time that character is used and developed more than if you have two characters to split that time between.
There is also the question of loyalty. If you are in a single clan then you need that clan to succeed, if you are in multiple clans if one falters it's not as big a deal.
So you say that others are pvp whores, Akuma, while you openly admit to being one yourself? Niiiice.

I think the rule is fine as it is... It's not always that fun to RP the same thing all the time. Sure, you could have an indie character, but what fun is that? Heh...

Where did I admit being a pvp whore?
PvP whoring is a meaningless term anyway, is anyone who enjoys fighting in freelancer a PvP whore? Are KNF pvp whores and QC not because KNF mount nomads and QC sticks to bretonia weaps?
If you're not a PvP whore, why do you need on the server anyway? You can just post rp on the forums and not bother with the server, where pvp will happen.
My 2 cents:
I dont want to be in a faction with a player who has characters in the opposing faction to the one im in. Other factions on the other side of Sirius not directly opposed to the one im in, sure, but not directly opposing ones.
I follow the theory that a person cannot "unseee or unhear" something, even if they try to or say that they "ignore" it, the person still sees or hears the info...
I do not want to join a faction who has members with characters that belong to the "other side"... To me it shows that the player isnt very "loyal" to that faction in the first place and that the character in question isnt the one they like to play the most... Either way, in-game, i can't completely trust that character if i think the player really may care more about thier other faction and character than the one i may be about to go into battle with... Join the faction you care about the most, then keep the rest of your characters indy and have fun... thats my vote.
Yes, "faction logging" as i like to call it, nothing going on that night so they are on other characters and the moment something happens they all show up at once and quickly leave after the battle is over. It's not pvp whoring, it's pvp "hunting".
Example:
Im in rheinland one night flying around with a friend and someone i didnt really know, not an [RM] in sight. Ofcourse theres plenty of people online but no RM in rheinland. It was this way the whole time i was on that night. Later, 2 osiris's and a battlecruiser show up and a fight begins, still no RM. After several minutes me and the few others who were there get destroyed, as i respawn i see 3-4 characters log out as 3-4 RM log in. Shortly after they dispense justice and eliminate the threat, they log back out.
This event totally ruined rheinland rp for me and i quit playing in that part of sirius afterwards. Not becuase of the oorp ships that flew into rheinland, but because there wasnt any help there to begin with, then AFTER the fact, they show up and do thier job only to leave the moment it was over. I dunno if a "call" or "message" was placed so they knew what was going on, but if [RM] was thier MAIN character and the one they "cared" about the most. Then they would have been there when the fight started, rather than logging in only when there was a threat and pvp justice to be served.
So no, im not calling them pvp whores for switching, just pointing out an observation i made. If it seems like im saying they are pvp "whores" (im SO sick of this word) then its only because of the actions of those players. They play whatever character has the highest chance of seeing battle that day. If a large battle ensues in space that thier other characters are in, then they switch.
1 player = 1 clan.
Regardless of how many characters they have. Play as a character in that clan, or play as an indy that works with that clan. If you dont care enough about that faction to have most if not all of your characters in it, then you arent very "loyal" to that clan and shouldnt be in it, in my opinion...
