And I might add, going up against said faction in control seems to have
a niche following of people attempting to overthrow said factions.

Some people like trying that stuff I guess. Some other people like being part of a faction.
Some people can't be bothered with either mindset and go completely independent.

It's up to you how you want to do things. Remember that no-one can force you to do things you dont want to.
Just be prepared for the consequences to your own actions and behavior.

I will say that you can be anything you want to be.
Just be prepared for the way you will get treated according to how
others think you should be. And remember that the game isn't about you.

Oh and welcome to Disco and the Forums:)If you need anything feel free to ask.

Well, that was my main idea: have a completely free, independancy freak, antisocial bastard as a character. But usually i get lots of shouting about being banned for flying an LSF ship as a mercenary (cmon, my father have stolen the Raven`s Claw from Kusari BEFORE LSF did, so this one is hardly an LSF ship). Being BANNED.

I don`t care about factions, i care about admins and what they say. I can RPG out of every situation and that`s what i call fun. I`ll say it again: i`ve been threated with ban for stealing tizona from corsiars or flying an LSF ship as a merc. That`s where my pain comes from.

Greetings to all the pilots of Disco:).

Thanks Micheal!

And yes, when you explain the situation to a violator, please stay neutral and polite.

ex: ''You know buddy, that by killing us everytime we undock you are killing our fun?''

And not! ''STOP REENGAGING ME, YOU ARE VIOLATING SERVER RULES, I'LL REPORT YOU''

If you feel the need to tell the player that because he doesn't care you'lll have to report him, say something like ''I'm afraid I'll have to bring this case to the admin team'' and not '' Your gonna get sanctionned''

EDIT: @Raf,,,,, sorry buddy but the ''I stole it'' story is not something players here accept. You may have to re-write it, no need to make something complicated,,, LSF is not dictatorial (I iz 2nd command). As long as you can show me that you didn't get that ship just cuz it has 8 guns (in short to PVP whore) and that you can RP its aquisition, I'm fine

The "I stole it" card has been badly used SO many times here. That's not a reflection on you, it's just historical fact.

If you want to steal something it's fine, but make sure you have a solid RP story to back up that theft. Get other people involved. Set up something with the OPG (for example) for stealing the Tizzie. Do the same with the LSF (or the Kusari factions) for the Claw. Then you'll have something concrete to point to when anyone yells "OoRP".

Edit: Ah, I see King has got in there just in front.

muhahahahahhahaha I iz so l33t, I iz R0adRunn3r!

Jokes aside,,

The I stole it can work,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but,,, YOu'll have to work alot to make sire it does.

EDIT: Especially if you are mixing pirate and lawful ships... personnaly, I don't recommend that kind of RP.

And most players, by seeing a RC with tizzies will scream powerplayer/pvpwhore/oorp/etc

When choosing ID tag ship and guns, try to stay on one side of the fence, not both

Well, i was accusing of "stealing" it, when i bought it, it wasn`t my idea. Listen, i`m on the server for two weeks trying to follow the general RPG rules. I think its completely RPG to have a anarchistic character pissing on any kind of authority. If factions get angry about that, its even better, adds to RPG. My concern is admin sanctions for violating faction rules.

I will RPG. My RPG is: I`m not going to submit to anyone. I will not register a single ship, i will not be ordered around.

If you think the server is too small for my kind, let me know, so i can leave it without troubling admins with banning me. Hope You`ll give a chance to show, how much i can add to the server.

The only iffy part against that thinking is that as much as the game mechanics do allow you to purchase any ship and any equipment with little trouble on your part, for realism we don't consider that. If you're flying a military grade ship (those that aren't supposed to be actually sold) you'll have to face the opposition to that, both in RP and ooRP. Because flying an LSF ship in Rheinland will get you in trouble in RP, flying an LSF ship in Rheinland with an RM ID will get you into trouble ooRP. People say that regulations detract from their fun, but they forget that their anarchy detracts from everyone else's fun, but they don't seem to care any more than they want the factions to.

If you are ready to face the RP consequences of your chosen status and won't blatantly abuse things for your own gain, by all means, do as you please. Just don't expect the other characters to like you.

If you want to play someone that disregards authority completely, be ready to be opposed to by the same forces. That's only natural and it's in RP.

Yes, but ONLY in a starflier.

I have tried to explain rule's to people who i thought were new. All i have gotten was grief, and said person/s screeming they would would report me for rule lawering. So "minor" thing's like like no ID/civi ID in NY i ignore. But when i see these "minor" rule breaker's in minor, or farther out, i give 1 warning.

Thank You for the post, it explains thing to me a bit. Untill now i believed, that the admins are guarding the faction laws (that what i was told). I`m happy to hear there`s a bit of freedom left in the freelancer.:).

Look, i`m really antisocial in reality, i cannot act other way. I can`t submit, please understand that. No one, except admin, can tell me what to do, "approve" or "disapprove" a ship i`m flying with. I`ll fight everyone, who wants to see free people in starfliers only. Dont get me wrong, i`m not against RPG, but i want freedom for my character, THIS IS my RPG...
