Errm, dammit. This kinda take the wind out my sails for my other secret idea I've told no-one about. Plus the fact my character already uses the BAF tag. I guess it's a /renameme case for me then:( I've seen alot of other indies using the BAF prefix as well, so you might have trouble with people using the BAF tag outside the clan.
Also, with the [BAF] thing, one idea would be, BAF- for regulars, then the guard would use, BAF} or BAF], so it saves on characters but still defines between the two classes as well as making the clan easy to find on the player list - just look for B. Alphabetised clans rule.
Eh, my idea.. What the hell. Army Space Corps. Like the current day British, Army Air Corps. It would run under the jurisdiction of the MoD, taking commands from Whitehall, (a MoD run base on the southern continent of New London). The only differences between them and the QRF wold be that they were run by the government instead of the Queen and they would use Army rank structure instead of Navy. I also had an idea about NCO and Officer rank structures, using the Guard prefixes I said about above. I alos thought, tat if I could ever be bothered to do anything about the idea, and got recruits, they could choose the regiment they were drafted from. For example, my indy, BAF-James.Naylor is from the Second Gravchute regiment, based on today's parachute regiment (see avatar for regimental logo).
I feel I should also say something, being mentioned and all...
I wholly support this idea. Fine details can be discussed and and changed, but generally it's fine. I don't want to lead a faction nor its part. I took care of the QCRF only because I was the only one who could.
In the last days indies helped us very much and they often help us even in better times. We love our indies:ylove:I never had any problem with any of them, it seems BAF attracts good people;)
It means the same thing really, infact it sounds better if you aren't factionized.
HMS-name is often used for indy caps. But it's unsuitable for fighters. And we don't want to force all indies into a namechange, that would be insane. Their naming is inherently inconsistent.
' Wrote:My idea came about as a misunderstanding about the permanence of FED. Thought it was something you were doing on a temporary basis. Since it may be intended to be more permanent, I'm wrong.
I'm going to summarize how we should relate:
1) The BAF being under the MOD means you guys try to stay more political, rather than go to the guns. I think you tended that way anyway.
2) FED will not simply be KOS to BAF, but we will keep an eye on you while in Bret space, and will stop you from interfering in trading. Analogy is how cops treat known gang members, when they aren't actually committing crimes.
I will ask a favour thought. I'd like you to do one post in your Bret Politics thread to help this along. I'll PM you.
You agree to 1 and 2?
Well, last first - I'll be happy to post anywhere you want once we get this ironed out. Always happy to help.
This all just seems a bit too fast and abrupt following the political RP from the other thread that Unselie participated in. Why does Parliament have to reassert authority for this to happen? The Royalists are in charge and the populists (the main opposition/minority party) have been outlawed; the MOD could simply be an extension of the Crown under the guise of Parliamentary control. That would suit both our RP quite well, unless you're feeling the need to "go democratic."
The other option is for Carina to appoint you Grand Admiral, and for everything to just proceed as you want it under a strong monarchy. That allows everything we've done (not just Feds, but navy, etc.) to stay intact. Anything you dictate will be assumed to have come from Carina or be approved by her.
I still don't see the need for a strong Parliament just yet, thereby removing one of our main reasons for existence.
As to your two points:
1. I'd like to just keep doing what we're doing; political RP and trade interdiction. We plan to have an active military wing, but not really for direct engagement with government forces (though that might have changed over time with QCO since it was Carina's personal force).
2. I think this works, because that's largely what BAF players have been doing already - to their credit.
Just to clarify, btw, ours wasn't simply a Crown vs. Parliament scenario - it was monarchy vs. populist democracy, and everything that means for the industrial complex (BMM, former workers opposing it, etc.).
