Quote:because the way it's being used is flawed and we see people roleplaying while infinitely cloaked more than anything else (which is terrible, please stop doing that for the love of God) at the moment.
Who are those players, though? Rather than taking away a nice feature of the mod, the first attempt should be to regulate them. From what I have seen so far, there are currently no players in the mod that roleplay while having access to infinite cloak. That would require the Wild to log to have that happen and then to roleplay as well. The same for K'hara. It's not that there is a mentionable "amount" of people who are actually doing that.
From what I've seen, not even Oracles do it that way, so unless there are specific examples - and I'd love to see those, because I'm pretty sure there are non from the latter half of 2016 until now - that's just another ridiculous exaggeration based on "They have something I don't like"
Even if there were people that do that, why not rather regulate them, approach them? CDU politics at it's best.

coincidentally, I wasn't around for the last 5 years.

Well id like to think so. as an american player i've always played this game with a hand behind my back and a foot up my anus. This is an old thread and old subject no body likes this game cause they cant handle being shot down.
it ruins their little lives.
But i've been here long enough to see that when the stakes are against you and you prevail no one will celebrate it. when you're ganked no one will celebrate it. and when we talk about making all the gear 100% neutral and normal to one another rp wise or pvp wise. No answers will satisfy everyone.
So i refuse to debate this nearly ten year old subject. put it in the grave and leave it there for whatever dev has been afflicted with these issues.
Tactics tech whatever we get well likely lose it at some point. its what this place does. So enjoy the exciting times while they last while their precious.
Well Huggie, some things have changed in the last 10 years regarding the Nomads. A) They are playable. B) They have friends. C) Other groups besides the nomads use their tech. D) We now have cloaks. E) It was a closed faction, now it's not. So unless you want to play the nomads the same way they were played 10 years ago, you might have to have this discussion every so often.
Please what? Which faction has the Wild or Nomad weapon/equipment techcell that isn't Wild/Nomad, Zelot? And as Antonio already pointed out: Everything about Nomad equipment has been literal garbage. Only the Pred is an above average vessel. The Marduk can be killed in a duel by a single Mako. The "buff" was simply to make the stuff at least adequate.

I'm pretty sure the entirety of the balance/gameplay team has been opposed to these things for as long as I've been involved with it. Unfortunately we're not really in a position where we can force their removal.

The fact that it prevented me, as a K'Hara player, from finding the interactions I used to find when I logged in a tagged ship. People used to bother and look for nomads if they saw them on the player list, and that often resulted in both PvP and RP encounters that I personally found very fun. Ever since permacloaks were introduced, and K'Hara got into the habit of always being cloaked unless an easy blue presented itself, people no longer bother seeking out K'Hara-tagged ships.
I don't really see how people can be in favor of minimizing encounters in a world with far too many systems and way too few players.
