probably this, reid
I'm just a lowly story dev with little power. But I do have the ability to harass those with it
Discovery is managed by the Head Devs collectively, nothing will really change without their say so. But prompting them and offering them solutions more directly might have the desired outcome. Hopefully, the survey will at least present clearly the most important things people think the Devs ought to work on or what the staff in general should do. From there we will see how far it goes.
So, a little context... There are often talks within the Dev chat as to the 'main' reasons that answer questions such as: Why do people still play? Why don't people still play? What can we do to encourage activity?
While in general, the devs are aware of a number of different factors that contribute to the current state of affairs for Disco. One of the things we do not know fully is how much effect these have on the community when they decide to continue to play or leave.
In a purely non-sanctioned attempt to gather information. I compiled a short survey with some questions trying to pry out the answers we are looking for. I intend to share the results with the development team once a large enough pool of responses has been collected.
I would be grateful if those who fill it out would do so honestly. And be brutally honest.
I think this survey should be pinned to "News" to make sure everyone fills it out.
These "customer satisfaction" / "community satisfaction" posts have been evermore common in the last few years, but I sitll think they are necessary until the changes we need are made.
Thanks Hokan

I'm new here....again.
I remember when this was an RP server.
Everyone has a story. They like to try to tell it, even if it's only to themselves. This server used to have population issues where you couldn't log on, it was that busy. Then the PvP gates opened. Shoot almost anything you want, when you want, where you want with minimal RP and I watched the RP factions slowly die. I left about then but to be fair, they could all have revived and be doing really well with a nice house, kids and a dog. I don't know about them. I can't speak for you reading this but I do know for me, the RP element of this old server was the most important thing it had.
There are hundreds of better games to PVP with and Freelancer can't compete with them. It should have stuck to what it was good at.
I remember some Corsairs stopping a Gaian animal smuggler and demanding a parrot as a fee was pretty funny.
The silliness in Bretonia with Bretons and Corsair recruits kicking hell out of each other in Cavaliers and Legionaires.
I was a Junker firstly, a Unioner for the hell of it (no one else was) and a Corsair (I even sat on the Council) and I played all across Sirius and always RP'ed every encounter and 90% of the people I encountered RPed or tried to RP back.
I hope this place goes from strength to strength, I really do and I wish you all the very best of luck and hope you enjoy it.

you can propose all you want, there are maybe two reasonable head devs and maybe one or two reasonable admins.
sorry to be skeptical, but the situation doesn't seem brighter than before in terms of them ever bothering to actually listen and to make things happen.
I will be delightfully surprised when you manage to do even just a single thing, whatever it may be, until then, the situation is as bleak as it was when Justin was around or [insert some brain-dead staff member here].
I don't mean to devolve this thread into [me me dislike staff], I don't think it's all bad, just that, after 10 years of being around, things have generally been the same.

It's not defeatism if I turn out to be right and all your effort will be forgotten in the next 1 week, just how it always happens in disco (:
