''Pods'' are always a good trick.

As for the loss of weapons I sometimes dock even with weapons destroyed.
To me it is more realistic then getting ''killed'' in order to get my weapons back and it gives certain satisfaction to enemy, knowing he dealt some damage.

Few days ago I lost an TWILIGHT when I fled to FP1 from Necrosis xD

I tend to RP ship destructions as "Serverly damaged" or "Limping back to base". It doesnt mean your lying about what happened, your just RPing your way around a Game mechanic.

Or you could be like Bruce (my BPA) and RP a crash landing. Spilling tea on your control board can be deadly you know. :D

"ditching" a heavily damaged ship is also a good rp solution.
with a little creativity you can rp most "death scenes" as not being fatal/ship lost.
