I have a RPC with mostly solaris on it. It chews up bombers and gunboats so nicely you have to feel bad for them.

If it comes up to even a moderate cruiser, it dies.

RPC is a small cruiser so I think that helps a lot. It can dodge so bombers have to come in close.

consider stop shout "whining" etc just because it sounds cool to say it. Instead consider to be a good leading example and try not do the same mistake, only leads to endless revenge-gankings which are actually not funny.

Solaris are very good on smaller battleships like the bretonian BS, Lib dread and Osiris.

There... Read it and weap..

Solaris are great. If they were any better even more medicore pilots than Tic could take apart fleets of bombers.

Its exactly what it sounded like to me. I also have had the most fun in this game with these fleet battles. It has been a blast. I love it when they invade gamma and I love it when we invade them, such grand fun! The rp of it the fight its what im playing for right now.

I need to test more (not sure about the exact loadout to use) but generally its feeling good. Other bs kick its butt though, went up against an outcast sarissa and it tore me up, but thats specialization huh.

Actually, solaris are quite well balanced, if you give it some thought.

It causes cap pilots to specaizize, although I refuse to.
I cant EFFECTIVELY take out bombers nonetheless with all solaris because of my size, I have two flaks for at least helping in chewing up bombers, with Large Battleships its a bit hard to do it. You need all solaris or mostly solaris to make a good damage output, then youd be rather ineffective against most cruiser class ships and up.

Dont know if anyone will bother to read this, but i would arm an osiris with 2 pulse and 10 light corsair battleship turrets. Then you are pretty good vs bombers, and you can still give an enemy battleship quit the fight.

Simply the best red ship ever

My suggestion that I use with my carrier, but would be awesome with battleships too -

Solarises and missiles.

Why?

Barely anyone uses battleship missiles - and thats where you can use them to improve your range and kick other battleships who use cerberuses and motars. Just max impulse speed and fire away.

Solarises for anti bomber. Also throw in some razors.

Solaris are awesome for small BS, big bs should probably not even bother, the key is they're fleet ships, small BS, support.

There was a fight in tau 23 with CR, 4 bombers were quite horribly mauled by solaris, one even killed by the dunkirk, bombers unable to do much bombing (the trick is, if they have to stay 1k+, you can avoid most of their SN if you do a little movement). This is a fleet thing because if you have escorts now, they'll kill the bombers while you dont die to said bombers, which is what everyone complains about.

The downside (which we've tried as hard as we can to counter) is weaker anti cap, the way this is countered is by having our own bombers and well.... running away! running away a lot. Even against smaller BS, always run away and support your guys, smaller Battleships are basically carriers, if the enemy BS cruises up at the start, get your bomber escorts to CD it.

also, solaris absolutely rape gunboats.

I had a bit of trouble killing gunboats (took a while was damaging them but not enough) in my current solaris setup. Im wondering if my razors are worth it over another solaris (might even try a missile). Speaking of missiles do battleship missiles have the cruiser bug where they seem to do no damage to shielded enemies bigger then a gunboat?

Killing gunboats, well, it's going to be slow, but no slower than them killing you in anything less than a giant swarm (I think 5 gunboats SHOULD kill a BS). I think the trick is to missile spam the gunboat and then solaris it with it's shield almost down.

The missile issue is to do with shield hardpoint placement, the game was not designed to have capship combat, and also not designed to have shielded capships if it did, without shield ofcourse, you have horrible screenshake and many weapons become useless and a single bomber can slowly kill a single BS.

So for BS (cruisers I think are usually ok, at least better than BS), you typically have to hit the guy in the face, I'm not sure but I think closer to the front the hardpoint is placed, for bs vs bs in a chase fight, the guy infront will always cause shield damage to the guy behind, even big bs.

nova's suffer from the exact same problem and it also prevents hull damage on top of shield damage.
